If you had any knowledge of modern military equipment, you would know that modern large Surface-to-Air missiles are minimum altitude sensor fused. In other words they will detonate if they descend below a preset altitude and do not have a radar lock on a target. This is designed to prevent friendly forces fratricide.
The Russians have to disable this feature to allow the S300s to attack surface targets. This has been going on since last year.

Nobody uses S-300s against surface targets, except for limited anti-ship scenarios.
It cost a lot more than a specialized ground attack missile and lacks in range and firepower.

It is not technically possible. S300 simply doesn’t have no homing device in it to direct it on a ground target except the radar homing like any antiaircraft missile.
All specialists including western know that.

There is no such thing in old soviet types of S300 which ukies possess. Also S300 simply doesn’t have the targeting of a ground targets. It is a completely different type of targeting from AA missile.
If there was say Iskander missile or any type of bomb-drone then possible. But S300 is AA missile with a short range and radar homing. And Uman is located about 500 kms from any Russia held territory. AA missile simply can’t fly that far.

It is a western source and it disseminates virtually gossips. S300 Missiles may fly about 75 km. Just forget for once about targeting and just consider this one: 75 km range. S300 is a ballistic missile so it can’t fly further then amount of fuel allows. But let us double it. Say S300 flies 150 km= 2*75 km.
Now town Uman. It is located south of Kiev. Closest territory belonged to Russia to Uman is a left bank of river Dnepr across town Kherson. Let us calculate a distance between Uman and Kherson. Google maps give 190 miles equals 305 km. It is a twice distance beyond technically possible range of any S300 missiles(150 km). SO you see no S300 even as ukies said Russia launches on ground targets can ever reach town Uman at all.
But targeting is a most impossible problem at all to send S300 against ground targets. Because S300 has a homing by radar ONLY. It means is if no radar reflection from target then S300 can’t home it. How Russia may make such reflection on town Uman 300 km away? The town is way behind any horizon line (30 km) from any place belonged to Russia there. It is a theoretically possible to do from Earth orbit ONLY.
SO you see how ridiculous it sounds ukie claim about Russia uses s300 missiles on ground.

300 km is a S300 RADAR range aka the target DETECTION range that why it is called S300! But NOT missile range. Meaning the radar can see aircraft long before the missile can hit it. It is same for any antiaircraft system.
The missiles of S300 can be with a different range but usually about 75 km. Because it is practically enough. The missile with 400 km range will be HUGE. Like Iskander for example which only 2 of them per one system.
There is such missiles with range 400 km for S400 and S500 new systems but they are dedicated for space targets. For satellite and ballistic missile shooting. They are very rare today and costly.
