Hmmm - does this mean that the black market value of the case of 100 watters I have in storage will fund my retirement?
About time. It is April 3, and after a record year of global warming covering the entire state of Nevada from Area 51 to Denio, From Carson City to Ely, nonstop, yet another inch if global warming fell from the sky over Reno last night to add to the 50 feet over the sierra this year. If we do not eliminate light now, we will perish under endless expanses of glaciers
SHHHHH!..................they are listening!...................

The Easy Bake Oven lobby will go hard against this
Yes, as long as your ‘retirement’ is in a Federal ‘institution’...................
Not sure, but I wonder if I can get them on the cruise stops in Mexico just like antibiotics and prescription retinol.
First they came for the regular flow toilets but I said nothing. Well actually I did say something but it can’t be repeated here. :)
I could never understand how Halogen lightbulbs ever became a thing in the first place. They get hot as heck and I don’t see any benefit in the light they cast.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Nanny State PING!
Try heating a bird or chicken cage or providing heat for a dog or a farm animal with an led light. Does not work. Incandescent heat bulbs are perfect for that. Also works well to keep a well house from freezing in the winter.
The pig tail light that was forced upon us with promises to last 9 years? You will be lucky to get three.
Speaking of dim bulbs…..
Then you have the issue of flicker that some people complain about.
Consider that LED flat-panel monitors and TVs have LED lamps. The best of them have NO flicker and a wide-spectrum emission -- otherwise how can you get accurate color rendition on such monitors? The problems are not insurmountable.
I run nothing but LED but that’s my choice. Many people out here run incandescent in their pump houses in Winter so the pipes don’t freeze. I supposes they can run 1,500 watt electric heaters instead of 75/100 watt light bulbs because that will save the planet?
“LED light bulbs ‘currently cost more than incandescent bulbs and are inferior,”
Built my house in 2020 and it came with LEDs. I don’t find them inferior, they last longer and consume less electricity than incandescent bulbs.
Is there ANYTHING the government regulated that made the product better?
What LED bulb is going to work well inside your oven, or in your freezer (other than extremely expensive ones)?
“Dimmer than incandescents”
My only problem with LED lights is when you put them ON a dimmer. It’s a crapshoot whether they work or not. And the dimmer switches that say supports LEDs are usually more expensive. Otherwise, the bulbs seem to work ok, last way longer, are gaining more features (i.e., flickering flame) and I have been able to find pretty good deals on bulk purchases of them meeting or beating incandescent prices.
But yeah, I’d love to see how they’re going to make an LED bulb be an oven light and withstand the heat. LEDs and their integrated driver circuits just can’t go everywhere incandescents do.
CFLs? Forget dimmers with those. They are horrible and should never have been allowed. They are worthless in cold weather. Disposal is a nightmare.
Did you vote for this? I didn’t vote for this.
