But that was your choice, right?

I liked working four 10 hour days. I have the feeling this is not what these idiots mean.

Once again, it’s another situation sure to impact one source
of our food supply.

The food industry has already been damaged over the last
three years. Now comes another shot across the bow.

Another of my favorite restaurant chains just turned
belly up in the last two weeks. Coco’s...

Pasadena Dupars, Glendale/Pasadena Conrads, Van Nuys 94th Aero Squadron (50 yrs), Arcadia Rod’s Grill (70yrs)...

From late 2021, this headline “Down 352,000 jobs, California restaurant owners look for a lifeline”

My wife just started a 4 day 10 hour work week, she loves it, so do I, now she has more time for house chores, maybe even time to mow the grass this summer.

We only ask for half days. What you do with the other 12 hours is up to you. Old surveyor’s joke.

Lowering the tax rate for married working employees would be a better way to give people more time for leisure. Making sure people get to keep more of the money they earn seems a no-brainer to me.

But the costs of goods will keep increasing which means work outside of the 32 hours will be necessary.

In some ways, Takano’s campaign is benefiting from his status as a gay candidate. He has received almost $30,000 in campaign contributions from the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and more than $5,000 from Human Rights Campaign, along with money from individual donors in the gay community, which has become both more organized and more politically active in recent years.

On Sunday, Sept. 23, Rep. Barney Frank, the longest serving openly gay member of Congress will headline a fundraiser for Takano in Palm Springs, home to a large and well-heeled gay population.

And those were the good old days.;-)

As an aside, I would rather work insane hours than be without a job. There's nothing worse than being out of a job.

Barney Frank’s Signature Bank was just shutdown on Sunday. I guess he will have to go back to running gay prostitutes out of his home.

Exploration and mining drilling is still 12-hour shifts. 10 days on & 4 off used to be standard, and to get days off shifted onto a holiday weekend the drillers would work 15 days and then take 6 off. Some mines have started fatigue-management programs, so I don’t know if they let people work 15 12-hour shifts in a row any more.

I’ve worked 10 & 4, 15 & 6, 20 & 8, and all sorts of variations. It’s all good.

I was contracted to work in a startup. I was in at 8 AM and left at 11 PM M->Sat. On Sunday, I worked 8 AM to noon, then took the balance of the day off to do laundry and go to the range. I relied on having dinner at Keith's restaurant on Miramar Road (near I-15). I had the component level EE design skills, C++ embedded system skills and Java networking skills to replace 8 people. They returned to their parent company. I had a couple lab assistants to perform the physical prototyping of the hardware. Long days, but a very productive prototype and test bed. In the end, the huge startup effort failed to create the enterprise scale version of my lab to service a customer based of 250,000 cars. The startup folded. Some of the recruited employees still had family and household goods inbound. Many independent contractors were left with unpaid invoices for work/materials delivered.

Not even Europeans are this lazy. Last time I looked, the French are at 35 hour weeks.

I had a contract with a German firm for Y2K remediation. The immovable deadline could not be met with the strict German labor laws. As a US based subcontractor, I could work as many hours as necessary to deliver ahead of the deadline. The German staff explained that if they worked beyond the hourly limits, their car insurance was invalid. That was the leverage against working past the limits.

I work at a different company every day. Onsite

This may work for determining scales in the office, a manufacturing or distribution facility will lose.

Those folks are rated on pure output determined by the process given them.

White collar is based on project completion.

A secret in nearly every college and university was discussed (and caused outrage) in the Chronicle of Higher Education long ago is most do not have Friday classes and many Monday classes, either. So a professor taking off early for the weekend means part of Thursday and then Monday morning off, so effectively, they work a full Tuesday and Wednesday work week. Unless it’s Easter, Thanksgiving week, MLK Day, Christmas “winter holiday” two weeks and a couple more after New Year’s Day.
