If you believe government ought to dictate this, then why not a three or two day work week???

That would make job opportunities for millions of other workers. /sarc

Well, if this is what is best, then employers will indeed offer that.

But it is obviously utter garbage to suggest this would occur. “No reduction in employee pay” - how exactly could that be achieved? It could not. You are not going to be paid hourly wages for hours not worked. Nor will you be given a larger salary for less work. You cannot legislate such a thing unless they are also going to legislate what each person gets paid and “guarantee” their job position. Completely unmanagable.

When I started my business, I worked the collegiate sports year. This meant I worked from August 15th through Thanksgiving—no days off. The spring half did mean two weeks in Fla, and I wrapped up by Memorial Day.

8:30 in the morning until the last game ended.

Has anyone not had the situation where something important has sat in someone’s in box for a few days? This will be just the opposite. If it doesn’t reach the inbox because it is stalled for an extra day in the previous employee’s inbox across the room, job bogs down.

Long range trucking is a route created action. If a trucker stops at 4 days, and 10, thus busting laws concerning trucker actions and time in the seat and logged into the computer, how is a shipment going to get to the time of delivery expected. It will cut load amounts and routes previously contracted for.

So product movement is delayed making everything past it with product and services stopping. And there are many other problem than just these couple. Maybe how far back it’s going to delay surgeries and patient coverage. And who’s going to decide the first and second string and who works together and which supervisor is going to oversee them. Worms.

Perhaps the California Democrat can show us all where in the Constitution it gives Congress the power to do this?

This is just an attempt to outlaw piece work, freelance and hourly wage and force ‘ salary’ on everyone.

Last stop before basic commie income detached from actual work.

They will pretend to pay
And
We will pretend to work

Production will tank
Quality will disappear

Country will become a destitute Soviet hell hole.

It's not going to happen. Want to work 32 hours instead of 40? You're a part time worker. You will be paid for 32 hours of labor at the same hourly rate as those who put in 40 hours, but no longer eligible for benefits accorded to a full time 40 hour week employee.

I'm salaried and weeks range from 40 to 70 hours for the same compensation. All dependent on meeting the needs of the customer.

Unless you make goods with a 24/7/365 industrial process?

For my line of work a machine shut-off requires a week to restart it.

Since the NEA is pushing for a 4 day school week at least a 4 day work week would give parents a break on child care if they wished to stay home.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
One day less of “woke” indoctrination would be beneficial for the children!

Example:
$1000 wk @ 40 hrs = $25.00 HR
$1000 wk @ 32 hrs = $31.25 HR

That's a 25% hourly increase for 20% less work.

Omg 4 day work week, lots of company’s have implemented 4 10hr days, no need for the democrats to stick their nose into this..

When my wife's office is fully staffed, there are 7 dispatchers plus a supervisor. 4 days X 10 hours to cover the 7 X 24 hr schedule. 3 of the dispatchers were pregnant last year and all delivered by New Year's Day. Current staffing is 4 dispatchers plus supervisor. My wife works 3 days of 12 hr shifts and one day with 6 hr shift. It makes for a very long day, but that should be coming to an end as March ends. The maternity leave is 90 days.
