VAT taxes are evil. Tariffs are the way to go.

2023 is what I’m looking at. Russia’s own reports. Not 2022.

Actually, I agree a lot of the Biden policies have not worked very well.* And many are too slow (just like the dribble of slow-stream weapons deliveries.) But the Euros’ transport sanctions are actually taking effect faster than I’d have guessed. Much to the great benefit and glee of the Chinese, Indians, etc., I would add.

*As for Biden failures, let me ask you this: As Russian troops began to mass on Ukraine’s borders, should Biden have announced a wartime footing program to ramp up US gas and oil production as quickly as possible?

Yeah I am completely clueless to the reality on the ground. Both the Ukraine and Russia are putting out fake news so where does the truth lie? I have no clue, and Western news sources don’t seem to be helping.

So hypocritical for Samsung and Apple to pull out of Russia but have no problem working with the prison labor state of China.

Reminds me of when all the big-label food producers boycotted the early 2000s Masters Golf Tournament because they were “unfair” to not let women play. All the second-market brands like RC Cola and Little Debbie’s stood in and filled the void and soon had grew their concession sales by a much larger margin than the woke Coke and Pepsi of the world... Harrr!

That’s the point. They’re not selling it at a discounted rate. They’re passing it off as having come from somewhere other than Russia. They’re getting full market price for it.

If you say so that is not what Russians are reporting of course they could be lying but I stand by my point China and India bought oil at highly discounted prices I see no reason that the nations you are talking about would not do the same
Russia has to move its oil or their whole system collapses, that is physics not politics.
Again we will see you have your opinion I have mine

You make me laugh. But I am concerned about what is going to happen when reality continues to slap you in the face. One would think that a year of hard evidence would have made a dent in your support for this nonsense. The "sanctions" might as well be called what they are... a huge windfall for the Russians. There is no realistic way that they can be interpreted otherwise by a rational person. But you keep wishing for 2023 for them to work out better...

I have no doubt - especially initially - China and India got some nice discounts on Russian oil and gas as Russia needed to offload a bunch quickly. However over time as Russia has figured out ways around the sanctions like the one outlined in articles whereby Turkey gets Russian oil/gas and passes it off as having come from Azerbaijan, then sells it on the world market at market price.

Even market price with third party costs, increased shipping costs, and sorry but human nature says we can take advantage of the situation, and even if that is true. Sales is going to be below 70$ per barrel their budget says they need. Additionally natural gas sales are way down, Russia does not have pipe line to China to make up the difference nor do they have the LNG plants or ships if they did

So is Russia about to crash probably not with reserves they have but to say they are doing just fine and sanctions are a bust is not accurate either

Saw that of course from kazan, be that as it may pacific pipelines can not make up for loss of volume from west coast. Moving oil in smaller tankers is very expensive so sale price does not equal profit or revenue, likewise their refineries have to find new buyers and China and indiando not want refined products

Never said they are not selling oil or even refined products but volume and profit are not the same since before the war.

Either way west wants oil sold just not at a price that supports putins desires and I think that is happening

A chart from feb24-June of 22 means nothing today, at that point everyone was buying everything they could from Russia

Like talking about oil revenue for 22 as a whole which included spike in prices to what is happening today
Now either Russia is trolling everyone with their own numbers which don’t look good or they really are hurting.

To quote idiocracy(who knew it was a documentary not just a movie)
“I like money”. The desire for money is the root of all evil and this is just another example

Why would Russia publish the true numbers when they’re selling a lot of oil under the table?

I don't. I highly doubt the EU can successfully dictate the price at which Russia sells oil to third parties - its not like the global demand for oil suddenly dropped or like production suddenly spiked. The market sets the price.

Totally possible , but I will say again these folks have bargaining power with Russia. “Hey we are taking a chance here cut price by 30% to us”…..
We will see what happens
