No more gas tax, a huge chunk of change over in the EU (about $1.60 a gallon).
No relatively cheap ICE vehicles means tourism will collapse, $2,191 billion... gone.
Cost of electricity (when they can get it) through the roof.
The solar and windfarms will be financed through a “temporary” emergency tax on just about everything, so cost of living will shoot up.
Transportation costs of goods and materials will double (triple?).

So, for a 0.02% decrease in CO2 (which accomplishes nothing) the EU will (further) destroy itself, thus making it a fat juicy target for Russia and China.

I doubt RuSSia is laughing about anything anymore. They have virtually no auto industry and the value of their gas and oil is in freefall.
But China perhaps can laugh. They are now the world’s largest automobile manufacturer (larger than the US and Europe combined at 26,000,000 a year). They have become the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles and the largest exporter of them (and their powertrains).
RuSSians are “laughing” all the way to the cemeteries and the ChiComs are laughing all the way to the bank (and global domination of the auto industry).
Contrary to the belief systems held here (by some), EV sales are skyrocketing worldwide as are wind turbines and solar technologies. As the problems and kinks of these technologies are getting worked out, guess who will be #1 in all of them?

Half? Maybe in virtue-signaling spirit, but in terms of practicality we are no where near 1/2 of Americans using hybrids...to say nothing of full-electric vehicles.

I doubt Europeans want EVs anymore than Americans who don’t feel the need to Virtue Signal every day.
But my post is that EVs are being FORCED upon them, just as is the case in California and many other states, adding up to something close to half of the US population.
Ban all beer! Ban all alcohol (now there’s a new thought/s), because as sugar is converted to alcohol, it releases CO2 into the atmosphere. The effervescence in beer and champaign is due to the fact that that gas is captured and put into solution with the ferment.
