This all makes me sick.
I have Confederate ancestors myself, who moved north to Pennsylvania after the war and were respected in their communities. They and other Confederate veterans were buried side by side with their Northern counterparts and no one objected.
On Memorial Day, while living, they were honored in full dress Confederate uniform and marched in parades with the Union veterans. When dead, flags were placed on their graves - Confederate flags!
This peaceful coexistence here in Pennsylvania lasted all through my childhood and into my adult life - assume the same was true throughout the country. No one started making a stink until several years ago - about the time the Democrats started putting BLM signs on their front yards.
My take on all of this cancel culture is this:
If the men who actually fought in that tragic conflict could reconcile and live peacefully together after the war, and their children and grandchildren could follow in their footsteps - why can’t we?
The answer is simple: the Progressive Left needs division and hatred to push their agenda of Marxist tyranny. They know this Great Experiment of American self-governance must fail if their tyranny is to succeed.
They sow hate where there is none. They demand reparations 160 years after all that was settled. They do not want to resolve conflict - it is in their best interest to create conflict.
It is all very sad. Our ancestors on both sides must be rolling in their graves.
Well I know that the big dificit in recruiting is mostly caused by men from the former CSA not enlisting, Why? Or culture and now our government makes it clear that straight, Southern , white men are loathed as vile and stupid (after all they enlist in the military) and evil. Might that be part of the problem. But, not to fear Gen Miley says this deficit can be made up by enlisting more women and those he delicately calls emigrants. (You know the one’s we see visiting El Paso these days.) So happy we won’t have to deal with all those evil Johnny Rebs in the military any more.
While we are busy driving conservative white males out of the military, debating about CRT, tearing down 150 year-old statues, and promoting gender theory - the Chinese and Russians are actually preparing to kick our ass

Well, yes. One of the men with Ramsuer when he died was no less than G A Custer who was his friend at West Point and I believe his best man at his wedding. Somewhere on the other side Custer and Ramsuer, who both died on the battlefield, stand looking with consternation at the actions of the ‘Renaming Commission. As they stand appalled at what they see an Indian in real blanket Indian turn out approaches. Maybe Crazy Horde. He taps Custer on the shoulder and says, ‘Hey Yellowhair, your people they be crazy for sure. But then us Indians always knew that.’
Perhaps we need to make room for a lot of new names for a lot of things in this country.

The left hates the victory. They are trying to erase the fact that white people fought a bloody war to end slavery. The Confederate monuments are just the beginning. Next it will be the Union monuments. See that “Proud Family” video on reparations and its smearing of Lincoln.
