There was a study during the Reagan Administration that was stopped cold (under his orders) when the root causes of rioting and urban violence were linked to behaviors that mirrored simians in groups in Africa. Simians jumping up and down, exciting each other to more violence and so on.
The brain areas stimulated and the exact patterns of movements in the two groups were leading to extremely dangerous political quicksand for the Right. The study was abruptly ended. The truth hurt.

Yanked a car door open and tried to pull the driver out with no attempt to identify himself as a police officer.
The young man in a panic also attempted to flee what for him must have seemed like a car jacking. In that case at least the officer was in a police uniform which was not the case in Memphis.
There were no protests. But the officer in question was fired.
Perhaps, and this is only a suggestion, the police should spend less time watching TV shows and more time learning how to properly and calmly identify themselves to the public so that such things do not happen as often?
Because I have to admit that if some big guy yanked open my car door and laid violent hands on me my inclination would be fight or flight.
