“if he’d join fellow centrist Sen. Krysten Sinema (I-Ariz.), who shocked Washington”

The statement is the kind of BS premise l expect from rats at The Hill. Sinema is not a “centrist”. She didn’t “shock” anyone, she will caucus with the rats so it changes nothing. More disingenuous lies from these propagandists. Manchin will do the same if he goes but l bet he doesn’t.

Manchin recognizes that power lies in the middle.

I favor the destruction of both “major parties”, although America’s future would be much brighter if the GOP dies first.

I don’t know what the critical mass of an independent group in the Senate would be, but four indies for a 49-47-4 Senate is an interesting prospect. Add a few Republicans and we could be looking at something interesting.

If Manchin did that, he would be challenged on the left by WV Rats!

Anyway, he still has his delusion. He still thinks he can play that card.

WV is red in Presidential elections, but blue in Congressional elections.

It’ll depend on whether Manchin can avoid returning FTX’s dirty money as an independent. He was among the Dems and RINOs who gladly took the cash when they thought they wouldn’t be exposed.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/west-virginia-republicans-get-ready-topple-joe-manchin-2024-rcna60890

from link

Joe Manchin is among the last of a dying breed — a Democratic senator representing a deep red state. He’s managed to hang on time and time again in West Virginia by bucking his party on key votes and building a reputation as a centrist.

But Republicans are already betting that in this era of extreme partisanship, and with West Virginia trending further and further to the right, voters will want someone who’s more aligned with the state’s trajectory. Candidates are already eyeing a chance to topple him, setting up the Senate contest there as one of the premiere races of the 2024 cycle.

Time will tell.

What was the line from that movie with Richard Gere in Training Day?
“ I got no place else to go!!”

Manchin stays. Place your bets.

Is Senator Mark Kelly a moderate, too? How many total non-Leftists are there in the present Democratic Party, in, both, the upcoming U.S. House of Representatives and the upcoming U.S. Senate? The “Moderate Democrats” and RINOS are going to be an, even, greater pain than they are, already.

Agree!

He’ll stay; maneuver in the background to try and get a shot at the Rat top of the ticket for 2024. (He’ll take a VP slot!). If that doesn’t work, he’ll try to gut out another senate run and hope the WV GOP runs a “less-then-capable” candidate against him. That’s been the previous history and its worked!

It is an interesting situation. The rats resent the hell out of Manchin because he saved the filibuster but they know if they Primary him and replace him with a 100% reliable rat they will lose the seat.

Almost all the sensible Rats here in WV have crossed over, for example current legislature WV Senate: 31R - 3D, House:100R - 12D. What’s left that would run again him Rat-wise are very very loony unionistas! They would lose BIGLEY!

Exactly, Manchin is the only rat who still has chance in WV.

If Manchin goes all in and switches to the GOP l don’t think he is a lock in the Primary unless they get ranked/rigged voting in WV.

Well, within the Democrat party he may be more effective and destructive than outside.

Right - he’d probably stay in the caucus, meaning not an actual change - it would just be a gimmick for re-election to say he’s “independent”

If so, the WV Rats will have to be very disciplined, not let anyone file. This will be hard for them.

Manchin’s got all the time in the world to play King Maker. His reelection committee will make that decision when it is politically useful for him to retain his seat. Until then, both sides get to kiss his ring.

Problem with traitors is the new family welcomes them and then wonders if they’ll be betrayed, too. Would Benedict Arnold leave Britain and come back to ask for a commission from George Washington, who used to admire him?

He should accept money secretly from the Dems and say he’s giving them inside secrets but tell the GOP he’s glad to be a proud Republican they can trust in the Senate. But actually is working for the Chinese Communists to undermine the US. Like a Ludlum novel.
