The intire electric car thing is over-sold.
Yes it is that’s why it’s the beginning of the EV cars if they don’t bleed your bank account the go up in smoke.
A no win deal
Sure, there are arguable good aspects to EVs, you can't piss on people and tell them it is raining.
It is not eco-friendly.
It is not travel friendly.
It is not re-charge friendly.
But hey, once the government FORCES everyone to abandon traditional-fuel vehicles, uses public money for infrastructure reinforcement, and further pushes a false climate change bogeyman, we'll "stop worrying and learn to love the bomb".
“It is not re-charge friendly.”
Charge at home saves you 40 days of your life versus going to gas stations.
“I’m surprised that the charging stations don’t have monitors running MSNBC programs. That way you can get indoctrinated while you wait.”
Co-locate some chargers with a no-tell-motel. Then you can get something else while you wait.
“Topping off” is free for the most part for now.
Wait for a couple of years. Like drug dealers would say, “The first one is free,” in order to get you hooked.
But the reason I asked him the question was to see if he said to help the environment, because electric vehicles are are actually more destructive to the planet than are combustion engine cars.
This whole green energy BS, is worse for the planet, and most people are totally unaware of that reality.
Filling the gas tank on an ICE vehicle takes just enough time to perform a safety/maintenance inspection, which could save a lot more than 40 days of your live.
“They are all way too expensive.”
What is 40 days of useful life worth?
“Filling the gas tank on an ICE vehicle takes just enough time to perform a safety/maintenance inspection, which could save a lot more than 40 days of your live.”
You should do that walk-around before leaving the house. It might save your life.
Not sure I understand your ?. 🙂
SEXIST PIG
“Charge at home saves you 40 days of your life versus going to gas stations.”
Snort. Must be a public school graduate.
10 mins (max) x twice a month x 12 months = 240 mins. = 4 hours.
NOT 40 days.
And that’s 8 miles to work round trip daily, plus usual weekly shopping, business, fun, and social driving, and stopping at a gas station conveniently on the way to or from work.
Plus, I can’t get my lottery ticket, apple fritter, or favorite squishee drink at home while an EV trickle-charges.
Ok. Let's play the game thoroughly...
Other assumptions:
That you will drive/own an electric car your entire "lifetime"
That you never have to travel over several hundred miles in one day.
That you never stay overnight and have to charge it elsewhere
That you never have to pull a trailer
That you aren't driving in sub-zero temperatures
That you don't mind the depreciation of trying to sell a used car with a worn-out battery
That you can charge your car without being hampered by electrical brownouts
That the electric utility "allows" you to charge your car when you want
more...?
I perform a walk-around inspection before I leave home and when I fuel up, which is once a month, at which time I check the fluids and clean the glass.
During the last 24 years of my truck driving stint, I hauled hazmat, and would perform a walk-around inspection at the beginning of a trip, whenever the vehicle was parked, and either every two hours or 100 miles, whichever came first.
OK, re-read the original. Was 40 hours “over a lifetime.”
So, let’s see. 4 hours per year x ? 70 years of driving = 280 hours = 11.67 days.
Even filling up weekly, rather than biweekly, that’s still only about half of the 40 days over a lifetime estimate.
But I see the sincerity in the original comment of 40 days. My apologies on the misread.
He is a paid ev shrill. No use talking to him.
Paints a grand picture about how eva are so damn good for you, and ignores the nitty gritty actual issues and main talking points.
I asked the shrill one time, what idling in traffic with the a/c did to range(in CA) his response was “you don’t need a/c most of the time in CA”
While that’s true, most people drive with it on, hence why I asked.
40 days of my life going to gas stations. Who the hell calculates stuff like that. You’re scraping the barrel with crap like that. That is like me saying I drive 80 on the highway to save 2 years of my life or some bs.
I shop on amazon and save 8 years of my life as opposed to brick and mortar. I pay people to fill my car up or bring me food, and I save 40 days of my life.
“This whole green energy BS, is worse for the planet, and most people are totally unaware of that reality.”
The whole green energy thing is based on the global warming hoax which in turn enables select scum to get filthy rich. Count me out.
“Chef Yisus”?
Assuming one stop per week at a gas station that is a net savings of 40 days over a lifetime.
The gas pumps around here have CNN and cheddar news
They use to have mute buttons but they are gone now.
