Just watch. Democrats will stir up hatred of normal cars (and their owners) and encourage sabotage, vandalism etc.

Gasoline and diesel vehicles will be taxed out of existence.

..As will every other form of personally owned vehicle.

The peasants are expected to walk to wherever they are going. If they have permissions and papers, they might be allowed to ride a bus. But anything that is not mandatory will be forbidden.

CA is cramming as much generating capacity into neighboring states as possible. The same solar and wind projects that are too ugly or environmentally damaging/bird killing for their own state are put our of sight and out of mind elsewhere.
And ignore the line losses that require those facilities to be just that much larger.
I now find big solar arrays in the most unlikely places, literally out in the middle of nowhere.
But I have never seen one that was at all attractive.

Yet another reason to leave CA.

Other septic leftist states are following their lead.

I strongly expect that scheme to eventually fail.
Very similar to the heavy Tax they were charging a few years ago on all vehicles brought into the state.
I recall the Fed. put an end to that.
Auto manufacturers may find it smarter to resist CA than to continue brown nosing when the percentage of national sales falls.

It will be simpler than that.
The same tech that enables “Real time updates” can also be used to disable the car.
So you will have to get permission for the trip from some Gov. agency first, then they may enable your EV to travel only to the stated destination along the approved route.

This will come to the urban centers first and I doubt it will get to my rural little burg in my lifetime.

I am also confident that gasoline is not going away any time soon in my state.
I base that on all the new stations being built despite the staggering cost.
Some have EV charging at the edge of the parking lot, some do not.

Would that be the same Constitution being ignored and sneered at as an irrelevant document written by old dead white men?

Don’t worry. The plan is for all states to do this and they will.

I have to wonder if people like him will flee the state. Of all the late-night comedians he seem to be the one most grounded in reality acknowledging that while he has a very nice life and hasn’t had to worry about money for most of his life, that is not the case with everybody and you can’t have the one size fits all ideas.

Exactly. The California electrical grid is so antiquated and in poor condition that they can’t even handle air conditioning on a hot summer day and have to preemptively shut down power to tens of thousands of customers if it’s too windy hot and dry because it will cause wildfires it will burn down your house.

Historically, electricity demand at night was less because of lower temperatures, businesses were closed, etc. Now, night time will have just the same if not more electricity demand because of the electric car charging. If they rely heavily on wind and solar, I highly doubt their grid can handle that.

Some have EV charging at the edge of the parking lot, some do not

I have seen a number of parking lots carved up to install new EV charging stations. It is not clear to me if the vehicle owners pay for "filling up the batteries". Somebody does.

Several of these stations are no longer operational. I do not know why they ceased operation.

The daughter of a friend bought an EV and charges it up every night in her garage. The electric bill went up by a factor of 5X.

Imagine that! Running vehicles on electric power is more expensive than running them on gasoline.

When someone here said last week “I don’t want an electric car and they can’t make me” I replied with various strategies the Left will use.

This is one of them.

When Gavin Newsom won his bid to fight off the recall, he smiled and said to the cheering crowd outside:
“And remember, whatever ever happens first in California later happens everywhere all across America.”

Completely unconstitutional. It violates the Commerce Clause as well as individuals rights to travel freely.

Yes.

Soros to DC elites: "I've been told some things are unconstitutional. Get rid of the Constitution."

Everyone knows it is limited.

Nothing that adding a few more outlets in the garage won’t take care of!

After 65 years of accounting-—I am at a total loss as to HOW this will be implemented.

Will they sell 2 gas cars-—and then hold up further sales until they sell an EV????

WHO KNOWS how many new cars will be sold in Calif in the next 4 years?

Next 8 years???
