They shouldn’t have let him get away with changing the subject, a classic liberal diversion.
Although everyone got a tax cut, the overall tax burden shifted even further to rich after the GOP tax cuts than it was before. Moreover, the Democrats have repeatedly attempted to reinstate the tax subsidies for the rich in their high tax states.
In Accounting-—either/both terms are used.
I NEVER in my life had a paycheck signed by a POOR PERSON.
Oh... like Sinema's 'carried interest' provision you signed last week ?
The billionaires did not get “all the tax cuts”. The very wealthy got almost nothing from Trump’s tax cut. I assume he was referring to Trump’s tax cut.
I agree I doubt they’ll feel grateful at all. Why would they really? This is a generation who always wants more of more.
Excellent point.
Is that fair?
Is it fair that 50% don’t pay ANY taxes?
Dumb argument...Why is it fair that I am paying the tab for idiots with college degrees that are useless to the real world?
I had a professor in college (years ago) who taught a class in Philosophy of Taxation.
He discussed a flat tax — everyone pay the same rate.
He asked: “Is that fair?”
He said: “No. You can’t treat everyone the same because poor people lose out.”
He discussed progressive taxation.
He asked: “Is that fair?”
He said: “Yes. You need a million special rules, benefiting these people, punishing those people. Some smart bureaucrats need to make lots of decisions on tax laws so that we can build a complex (but fair) system.”
He was sure that socialism worked. Just need the right people in charge.
Does he mean the Trump tax cuts where everyone got a break?
This guy should be on Twitter with all the fake news he regurgitates:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/14/business/economy/income-tax-cut.html
“Paying off student debt benefits the economy if the students use the money to buy real goods and services with the money providing income to businesses and jobs for more people.”
Of course the reality is that most are not paying off their student loan(s). That money is already budgeted for something else like their Porsche payment. So the much ballyhooed boost in economic activity is already factored in.
In fact forcing the rest of the country to pay additional taxes to cover that Fed revenue shortfall will more likely result in lowering the overall economic activity.
“Absolutely HORRIBLE analogy.”
Biden proves it’s unfair to forgive student loans by comparing the act to something that he also believes is unfair. Is it fair that 10,000 blacks were murdered last year, and only 6,000 in 2019? is it fair that CPI is up 15 pct since Biden took office? No none of it is fair, and neither is his stupid bribe to idiots who would have voted for him anyway.
Yep, apples and oranges, I guess the dementia disallows critical thinking.
printing money causes inflation, which is a regressive tax that affects the poor most.
