Makes me sorry that I spent three years in the Army to qualify for veteran’s benefits so that I could go to college.

“President Biden announced Wednesday that he will cancel $10,000 of federal student loan debt... “

Must be nice to be dictator.

We’re past the stage of banana republic.

And why is he doing it now? Well there’s an election coming up, he needs to buy a few million votes.

If our esteemed congress is going to do nothing about rampant outsourcing & an invasion of guest workers to steal American jobs, the kids have a legitimate demand for a bailout.

They simply don’t care. Ever since SCOTUS refused to look at blue state election rigging, the Dems know they have carte blanche to do it again, maybe even more blatantly. After all, they own the media and the DOJ, so who’s going to stop them. So at this point, they don’t care how radical they are or how bad they look. They own the system, so they’ll do whatever they want, “win” every election of any consequence, and cancel or prosecute anyone who tries to stand against them.

While I was teaching at a college, I saw Pell Grants buy a LOT of cars.

Since when have either the Democrats or the Republicans cared about the national debt soaring?

When the other party is in power.

Don’t know, most of the leadership voting to support this nonsense are boomers. And boomers are always at the head of the line asking for more social security or health care assistance or any number of programs geared to the elderly. It unfortunately is common among many people to not want to be free, and have the responsibility to care for themselves and to honor their own commitments.

They cannot be responsible for making a good decision about borrowing money, yet they get the responsibility to vote. Maybe if you choose to accept government money (or forgiveness of a debt), that you didn’t earn, you should lose your right to vote for an appropriate number of election cycles to keep from having your vote bought.

The entire purpose is to paint those that WILL oppose this as haters of the little guy and conservative constitutional textual lunes. This is for the media narrative even though it’s known it’ll be shot down by the courts when challenged. It’s not the point to “win” and hand out cash.

Not sure what the qualifications are these days. 40 years ago you had to have very little assets and income. The look back was several years. I went back to school after serving in the Navy and wasn't eligible for a Pell grant until my last semester. If I remember correctly the Pell grant only covered a nice portion of tuition and nothing else..

How so? It is a flat $10,000, not a percentage, is it?

Yale and Harvard have nearly $80 billion in endowments.
Not a penny used to lower the cost of college.
