Just was in a Bay Area suburb where revisions to state law overrule the deed covenants of 2.5 million dollar golf course homes. Now I can take any house and subdivide it into a condo and to hell with my neighbors and the covenants I agreed to when I purchased the property.

A zoning classification is not like a private deed covenant that was voluntarily entered into by the parties or their successors. It is a government created favor that can, and should, be withdrawn when it begins to hurt people who never consented to it.
However, if you have purchased a home in a residential area that is zoned Single Family Residential you have a reasonable expectation that if someone wants to rezone their parcel they must go through a rezoning process with pubic notification s for neighbors and public hearings with the burden of suitability imposed on the applicant.
This is leftist government planners trying to change the landscape for political purposes who use the overall leftist voter climate to facilitate rule by government planners and destruction of other individuals property values.
