Every word the progressives make up to sanitize something invariably becomes a negative word. It’s not the word, it’s the practice they can’t cover up.

The Democrats are always telling me how I have to talk to be polite.
Then they go out to victimize people and ruin their lives.
To Help with politeness. Tell me the words you don’t want me to use, and I will use them as much as possible.
Dem rep doesn’t get it about using euphemisms to neutralize condemnation. It doesn’t work.
Take the word cretin. That was a well defined term, but considered derisive. Bleeding hearts said use retarded, it means they aren’t defective, their development is delayed or slower. So that was adopted in polite conversation, but soon came to be loaded with the same derision. Now you have to avoid that with new euphemisms.
Take the word naughty for young troublemakers. Naught just means nothing, zero, so it was introduced into polite conversation as nonxjudgmental, meaning these kids weren’t bad, but werent good. Now naughty means bad.
Replacing the term for something people hate, criticize, ridicule, and/or oppose eventually lends the same connotations and reactions to the euphemism that the original term had.
Ah, yes, we should all call it The Sacred Holy Sacrament of Cutting Up Living Human Beings and Selling Them For Parts or Flushing Them Down The Drain, can I have an A-MEN?!?

What is being stopped?
A pregnancy, or more specifically,
It is stopping the life of an unborn child.
It is killing the life of the unborn.

Yes, when bad things get too much negative baggage, come up with a new word! Problem is it only works for a short while and then the new term becomes a negative. Locally the ‘Alternative School’ renamed itself the ‘Academy’. Didn’t really fool anybody.
Me, I prefer to use the word infanticide.
Would they prefer “uteral cleansing” as the new terminology?
Now they’ll call it, “you know, the thing.”
If abortion is a bad word, why not stop trying to keep it

Infanticide is technically correct. One could abort all kinds of thing, a mission, a takeoff, but this is the taking of an infant’s life.
So what should we use instead? “Kill babies” works for me.
That would be "euthanasia" and its derivatives, e.g. "euthanization," "euthanizer," "euthanizee," and also the anti equivalents to point out that killing of an innocent baby is way different from putting down an injured dog or cat.
The dehumanizing effect of certain now-routine medical procedures that were once the province of illegal, back-alley surgeons is contrary to all the best traditions and doctrines of Western civilization. (There's a Latin term I'm looking for but it's getting late . . )
I fear that the pendulum is swinging the wrong way to save what's left of our free society.
