Speaking of that, our aircraft carriers are obsolete just like the flagship battleship a century ago. If we go to a war with a nation that is technologically advanced like Ukraine, they will use missiles and drones to sink our aircraft carriers.

This is exactly right. It seems we always try to fight the next war with the obsolete technology of the last war.

Robot aircraft can sustain far higher G forces, carry heavier payloads and operate with much greater range and efficiency.

I think the Navy and Airforce are hanging onto their manned missions primarily for prestige and tradition, and not so much for mission capabilities.

Also, if you need fewer people, you have less power. Who wants to be commander of a robot air wing as opposed to a human air wing?

No, it would not have been a good idea to bring back Kelly McGillis as Maverick's love interest...She is 64 years old now...She really did not "age well"...

I watched the film in IMAX...I had fun watching the film...

Name of the hostile nation is never mentioned in the film...This hostile nation does have an F14 on the airfield...Nuclear facility is the main target...

I have a feeling that the Iranian regime does not want any Iranian to watch the Top Gun movie...

I have Sling tv ($41)and it is cable with more channels.
In the theaters near me they have you stand outside in the weather to buy a ticket so you end up all sticky in the hot weather before going inside to sit down in the sticky seat. I guess I could buy a ticket online but that would be planning ahead. The seat would still be sticky...

It was so respectful about everything it did, from posthumously adding Don Simpson back as producer to how it presented Iceman, to how it delved more deeply into Maverick’s character motivations without being preachy or trite.

During the closing credits, Tony Scott is mentioned...The director of original TOP GUN...He killed himself many years ago...It was a good idea to mention his name...

#58 I saw all the Mission Impossible movies on TBS while doing other stuff around my place and after many hours I realized that they were separate movies but the plot and acting and characters were all the same and I only noticed when I looked at the tv guide online. In short, you seen one you have seen them all.

Correct, like several other action films, watching them didn’t trigger a need to buy a AR15, and go shoot up a gun free zone, either. We were taught about Dad’s hunting guns as kids.Gibson’s actually were better, as you learn about dystopin aftermaths. The new Reacher is about the same, his mission is take out bad guys.

Some years back I started noticing that they were putting politics into movies ...

Same thing happened to me - and I just stopped going out to the movies. It took all the fun and ability to 'get into' the fantasy away... then sitting wondering. 'why did i pay money to sit in a dark room and be insulted'...

I have HBO and don't even watch many movies when they're basically 'free'.

Hollywood can do better... limit some of their scolding and lecturing. As this shows movies can be entertaining without some liberal elite pushing their sh*t on us.
