This is why I avoid fast food. It's robbery and has been that way for some years now.
My wife both cook and go grocery shopping together. We can absorb these price hikes, but we are making our food go farther just out of habit. I also buy big cuts of meat, keep them in the freezer until it is time to throw it on the smoker. We can eat off a pork roast or brisket for a good while.
Let’s go Brandon.
I say that a lot these days.
5.56mm
We just got back from grocery shopping.
Amazed at how much prices have jumped in 2 weeks or less.
Gal of milk that 10 days ago was 2.79, now 3.72
Bushes Homestyle baked beans (the short can) was about 1.75 now 2.14.
Any name brand bread 3.50 - 4.00+
BTW this is Walmart.
Chicken thighs 1.99/lb at Aldi. Used to get boneless breasts for that.
10% inflation...hogwash!
It is 70% higher robbery now.
:-)
I just went by the freezer at CVS - saw Stauffer’s single serving mac and cheese for $5.50.
For years the big food companies have pushed cheap processed crap devoid of nutrition, now it’s not even cheap!
Buy yourself a food Saver. When you cook. Dish up a couple of others and runthem through the FS and into the freezer. Then you have a homemade frozen dinner that is exactly how you like it.
Wonderful! That is what the people wanted when they replaced President Trump with Lying Joe Biden. Let them enjoy it. They earned it. And the best is yet to come. And that was not said in a good way.
roadkill...
today’s special is chihuahua chalupas...
Biden’s most significant voting demographic was the local cemeteries.
Those folks don’t have to pay higher food prices.
With the warmer weather upon us I’m going to buy a whole chicken and grill it up. Maybe even smoke it. Can eat on the leftovers for several more meals. Fast food prices and quality are a bummer these days and I always feel like I wasted money on the purchases.
Bring it!
I’m not into eating people. ;)
Many people don't have that skill set. I learned how to cook from my mom and the Boy scouts.
A few weeks ago, I bought butter at $3.49 a pound, and thought that was a little high. A few days ago, that same store had it for $6.69.
Growing up without a dad (died from war wounds) mom had to raise 4 kids on her own - ages 3 to 13. So we never went out to eat. Instead we joined with another family and drove to scenic places for cookouts. Which honestly was a better outcome as wonderful memories of those times and places.
Just going for an ice cream cone was a huge treat! Not often but sufficient to make it an event for the family.
I bet the democrats and republicans are eating well on our money.
Total BS
I use 5# chub of hamburger & make chili. Brown the meat-—add 4 cans diced Hunt’s tomatoes—4 cans of S & W dark red kidney beans—celery salt—garlic salt—Lawry’s salt—dried onion pieces—1/2 cup of white granulated sugar to cut the acid in the tomatoes.
Cook at least 8 hours-—low & slow.
Freeze into individual servings.
For what I pay for a McDonalds meal, I can buy a steak at the supermarket for the two of us and grill it at home, with a baked potato on the side.
And I will know it was not spit on.
