At least their generals and colonels are out there on the front lines.
Our generals and colonel never wander far from safe headquarters an squadron briefing rooms.
Stonewall “Foot Cavalry” (force-marched up to 50 miles per day) Jackson was shot and killed by his own troops.
Fact.
Look it up.
Precisely
Pls see 18.
See 18, about our Glorious Heroes of Afghanistan and Iraq.
So your delighted that the Russians can now black mail sleepy Joe
That photo is a national embarrassment.
Precisely why authoritarian governments are dangerous
I think the grunts feel the same way.
Hero-General Raytheon, our Sec Def, on a rare and dangerous journey outside in the open air.
“My second wish is a fiery death to every Russian soldier in Ukraine. And I hope it’s a slow fire”.
You’re a real SOB for saying that. Most of them are young conscripts who do not want to be there.
We’d have fragged your ass in Nam, Lieutenant.
“Based on your criteria, every country on earth is a threat to every other country on earth. I guess, in a theoretical sense, where odds are ignored, that is true.”
Apparently, this is one of my favorite quotes because I’ve typed it a lot lately. “Countries don’t have friends. Countries have common interests.” Churchill.
Here’s an interesting take on Putin and his world view by TIK. Well worth the time.

Again, a national embarrassment.
“Precisely why authoritarian governments are dangerous”
Interestingly, the Soviet Union was probably much less dangerous than Putin because there was a committee that made all of the big decisions together. It was not a total dictatorship. Thus, if there was a misconception it was likely that with ten or so guys having their say that misconception would be revealed. Not so with Putin. Here’s an interesting take on Putin by a guy I follow. TiK

Churchill is one of my favorite historical figures; always has been (well, I’m half English by blood, and my mother was an English girl during WWII and went through the bombings, etc.; so, I grew up on Churchill stories). BTW, I’m currently re-reading Manchester’s “The Last Lion.” I highly recommend it.
His pithy comment about countries has always been one of my favorites, as well.
—> And all of this to manifest a dream of a “re-united” pseudo-soviet empire, a dream of the former Berlin KGB office head.
Putin stated this, or you imagine he is acting for that motivation.
Seems he’d have continued under Obama years ago, if that was his desire?
second 8th Guards Army commander lost in ~month... wonder if any of the other units have lost multiple commanders
That’s a disgusting sight.
