He needs to declare what he wants on his tombstone.

Careful what you wish for. In these evil days of deceit and corruption, his “ replacement” I suspect will be much worse. Having worked in Moscow and having relatives there, I see no acceptable candidates. Look to the Scriptures as to where we are heading.

“NATO is a defensive organization. The Soviet Union and now Russia have historically been the aggressors. Western Europe does not have the right to form a defensive alliance just because Russia says so?”

I thought going into this, the answer is obvious. Russia is doing what Hitler did, and Putin probably has longer range objectives for Russia that include being, as you said, the aggressors.

In my lifetime we have not had foreign troops attacking us on our soil or near our soil. We have had terror attacks. We’ve had embassy attacks, which is like being attacked on our soil, but with obvious distinctions. However, overall, we’ve felt safe and secure. It helps having the most powerful military in the world.

When we had the Cuban missile crisis, JFK put a stop to it. This was before my time, but it is significant to this issue.

I’m not trying to defend Putin or Russia in their actions. But I do think there is another side to this, and that’s globalism.

It seems that what is happening is a pushback against the effects of the globalists trying to erode national sovereignty. Probably the biggest mistake we’ve made as a nation is to embrace the financial rewards of global trade without making human rights demands of our trade partners.

Putin is using the excuse of NeoNAZIs, but many people from eastern Europe have said that Russian Communists were even worse than the NAZIs in their oppression, torture, injustice, and so on. Russia has reformed a bit, but I have no confidence in the current regime even if his claims are true.
