Exactly right. And that's something I always try to tell posters (usually new to FR) who complain when articles from Leftist sources are posted. If you don't know what your enemy is thinking and saying, how are you going to respond to it?

It is possible for someone to be both. Genius does not imply goodness. Also, genius in the context President Trump used the term re Putin does not mean high IQ. It means very clever, as in Putin seized the moment in the face of totally craven weakness throughout all the Western nations. Biden, in particular, is about as weak and useless as a national leader can be.
President Trump was not praising Putin. He was commenting on the nature of our enemy.

We don’t know how this war will be fought and how it will end. If the 40 million Ukrainians dig in and fight an insurgent war or take to bombing targets in Russia Putin could look like a BIG Dummy. I don’t think that the Russians want their cities destroyed. Anti war protests spreading across Russia may cause internal collapse of Putin. But hey, I am not a genius either and can’t predict how it will end.
