Hahaha...I had to go for a hearing test a few weeks ago, and the Audiologist asked why I needed my hearing checked, and I told her my wife forced me to do it! (She kind of did...:) though often I can’t hear her and have to yell out “What?” because she is speaking conversationally to me from the next room! (and I have to pay attention, because she occasionally quizzes me to make sure I am actually listening to her with a “What did just say?”

I don’t want to fail that one! She might make me some “special” tea from specific plants she grows in her garden...:)

ME: (sipping my homemade tea) Honey, what plant is that?

HER: Oh, that’s Digitalis. Pay no attention to it. It has pretty flowers. I pick them sometimes. How are you feeling?

ME: Oh, ah...okay I guess. Why? What about that one? It isn’t that pretty. What is that one?

HER: Oh, that’s Castor Bean. I use it for “special” things.

ME: Uh, really?

HER: Yes. How are you feeling right now? Just curious.

I guess when they ask that question “Do you feel safe at home?” I should answer “I do, unless she offers me some of her “tea” in that sweet voice of hers when I know she is mad at me!”

Then she asked if I had any other hearing issues, and I said I have pretty significant tinnitus with three different tones going on at once, and she asked if I had mentioned it to my doctor.

I said I had, for some years, but...nobody seemed the least bit interested in doing anything about it. I found out they can’t really do a lot about it anyway, so...I just shut up and don’t say anything, except to poke fun at it.

Classic case of “What’s the use of complaining?”
