Now that Kissinger is himself in his '90s, I wonder if he still thinks of the elderly as useless eaters?

I'm not familiar with Kissinger's remark, but it was almost certainly a reference to the German use of the term under Nazism. As a German Jew who fled Germany during the 1930s, he would have been acquainted with the term.

Kissinger certainly was familiar with Hitler’s remark, but was not beyond being ironic. in modifying the reference. On the other hand, I cannot find the original quotation in context, including in a Google book search, or his saying that may be apocryphal.
