Getting involved sounded so fun!
I will say, being young, idealistic and involved with Democrats and all forms of Leftists sounds dangerous to me.
When I saw this, and saw what he was involved with, Seth Rich popped into my mind.
I am of the opinion that many Democrats and other forms of Leftists are dangerously naive and idealistic at best, and violently criminal at worst, sometimes all that in one package.
When I saw this, my first thought was: did he see or participate in something illegal, was he blabbing or bragging about it...that kind of thing.
I don’t want to throw shade on the kid, he is probably young and idealistic, just the kind of new flesh they love on the Left. If they can be groomed into a Machiavellian Leftist comrade, they would love that.
If is is just a “Useful Idiot”, they love that too.
But it is well to keep in mind that to them, their “Useful Idiots” are cannon fodder, eggs to be broken in the making of their Leftist omelet, in other words: Disposable.
They don’t view him as a person. They view him as a cog.
Probably the usual suspect. Another white supremacist in black face. It happens quite often.

My daughter is a senior at Temple, and she's lived in the city her entire life, and has that skill that suburbanites lack about sensing danger, so I don't really worry about her. At Temple, anyway, it's the folks who don't understand the motions and vibrations of the city who make easy targets. But then again, considering the enrollment of Temple, the amount of murder enthusiasts in the surrounding area, and the relatively few Temple victims, it's surprising.
You're also correct that when it's an inter-racial crime, its so over-whelmingly a black man killing a white person it doesn't really draw any inteest.
What the tragedy here in Philadelphia is staggering amount of semi-feral blacks murdered by other savages. Nary a few months go by that an otherwise wonderful, friendly, caring coworker (who's black) doesn't have a son murdered.
And that's not counting the 100+ "Suspicious deaths" on the ledger.
But let's not be too hasty in calling those deaths murders. Sometimes, a fella will be in a drug house, and get shot in the head, or stabbed, or strangled, or lit on fire, or blown up. No one knows why. No point in looking for why either. It just happens. Natural causes.
Having read up on this kid, the first two, most definitely, the third, if the opportunity presented itself without personal responsibility, highly likely.
It's ironic, if that word suffices for what goes on today anymore, that a thug he no doubt admired if not deified, took his life on a whim. "No bro, I'm on your side! BLM! Fight the power! F#ck Whitey!!!"
One of my nephews attended Temple University about ten years ago and was assaulted and robbed. Thank God that the criminal did not shoot or stab him.
I haven’t read up on the young man and didn’t wish to slander him on a day like this.
But I came to some conclusions about him because of who he associated with and the type of activity he was involved in.
The people he was enthusiastically allied with are likely the worst kind of Leftist partisan hacks. He may have been a Political Science major with eyes full of stars, but hanging around with those corrupt people, he wouldn’t have remained that way for long.
I had read earlier that he was shot twice in the chest, which seemed odd, but in re-reading the account, they say he was shot four or five times when he tried to fight back after he had already been shot, so that makes more sense. Doesn’t sound like a hit in that context.
That is all I want to venture about him at this time.
I believe the universities are being PC and not warning the students about the neighborhoods anymore.

This time, apparently, the incompetence of Krasner’s office was responsible for the murder of one of his own supporters. But that’s not how Douglas Leake saw it.
Online, Leake described his friend Sam Collington as a “devout Marxist” who “would not want his death to be used to push any sort of right-wing pro-police agenda such as stop and frisk.”
“We must not let this travesty spawn oppression of any kind,” Leake wrote. “I will never stop defending his legacy of radical justice, peace and equality.”

I don't want to make any assumptions here, but if your daughter is caught up in "Da Greek" sorority/fraternity culture, is active in the West Philadelphia nightlife scene, dates recently paroled/active probationers from the surrounding neighborhoods, and a regular at the HNIC bar, GET HER OUT OF THERE POST HASTE!!!
On the other hand, if she's got a good head on her shoulders, associates with other kids from Drexel and U of P, your much bigger fear is with her getting indoctrinated and bringing home some SJW over the Christmas Break. I lived out in U City for quite a while, and it's no where near as sketchy as North Philadelphia.
