Had a Navy pay issue only once - after six months trying to fix it called my Senator. It was resolved in three days.
The operative question is 'who did you p*ss off?' :D
Unit admins - always good to find out what their favorite coffee or candy is...

Saw this all of the time in Little Jimmy Carters regime.
The folks overseas were really hard hit and took out loans just to feed thier family...and nobody in CONgress gave a shit.
Everything old is new again. I have stopped recommending any one join the military today. Nobody should have to be an underpaid mercenary....

In 1970, while in Vietnam, a Viet Cong mortar crew took out our admin hut and all our pay records went up in smoke. It took the Navy 5-1/2 months before they started paying us again.

In my experience, this is not unusual. Not good, but not unusual.
I went for almost all of 1990 with incorrect pay.

My USAF pay issue lasted nearly a year. It got settled when my wife wrote a very nasty letter to a 4-star.
I got my pay and a VERY crappy assignment out of it.

This money would be considered a grant and is taxable. It’s cheaper to take the money, become a Mexican citizen. The current tax rate of the US for those who make plus $600K a year is right at the same for US living in Mexico at between 30 to 37%. But with the cost of living so much lower, you can easily cover that.

Funny thing, though, if they make a pay error IN YOUR FAVOR, they’ll be sure to claw it back within seconds of figuring it out!

I hadn’t even begun to seriously piss off anybody that mattered by that point. Later on I delighted in getting threatening phone calls from O-6 weenies who got to go home every night.

People get all pissy when they hear that. But there was a time all E-4 and below had to have CO approval to marry. Depending on base, Military housing was limited and E-4 and below were on long wait lists. Allowances meant to “assist” with rent and food, usually only covered rent off base. E-5 and above earned enough to pay rent and expenses. The services were being smart, actually protecting their members from predatory women, landlords and realtors. Common story, lonely Marine marries woman with three kids. Despite warnings from the Legal Officer, adopts all three kids. Broken hearted he leaves the warm bosom of his family to deploy. Gets served divorce papers while deployed, all three kids now get free healthcare, she gets support payments X3
Go on bases now, see the E-3 with 20 year old wife and two kids. Still barely surviving on MilPay and you cannot imagine the crap that goes on with babies married to babies. Checkout JVille Girls Call Me Maybe on YouTube. They are referring to JVille NC outside Camp Lejeune. Nothing has changed!
