I said it before and I’ll say it again. That was Pence’s job according to the Constitution.....to read it into the record. Pence knew it....Trump knew it...We all knew it.

Q: Calling him a "traitor" solves nothing. Under what Constitutional authority did he specifically have to do other than what his limited role was directed on that day, i.e. to simply tabulate the votes and read them out? I have not heard a clear, plausible argument on that one yet.

Please feel free to cite the Eastman report, or the Jenna Ellis e mail, or whatever source you have.

Again, when it comes to counting the votes, the 12th Amendment says, "The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted. The Constitution gives a vice president, as president of the Senate, only one role, which is to open envelopes, in other words, despite what anybody says or asserts, clearly the vice president’s constitutional duty to open envelopes is ministerial. And that was clearly stated in Pence's official letter that day, as I recall. Now we COULD amend the Constitution to give him more authority, but that will not apply retroactively to 2020.

True. Pence is innocent for his actions on Jan. 6. However, Pence is guilty for not preparing for the obvious cheating on Nov. 4. Very guilty. Pence seems very happy today that Trump lost by cheaters.

Trump wouldn’t support “hanging” Mike Pence. He’d just stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot him.

“Under what Constitutional authority did he specifically have to do other than what his limited role was directed on that day, i.e. to simply tabulate the votes and read them out? I have not heard a clear, plausible argument on that one yet.”

Tokyo,

You know I’m a huge Trump supporter and will be voting for him in 2024. However this malice towards Pence bothers me.

There is zero precedent for Pence, the VP to dispute electoral votes at that juncture. It would’ve opened up a “can of worms” that could jeopardize future election results.

Even if there was a mechanism to send the electoral vote back, the States in dispute would’ve just sent the same results back. So we would’ve got a 8-14 day delay, with the same results, while looking like a bunch of jackasses.

The precedent would’ve been for State legislators to get a alternative slate of electors. This position has precedent(See Election of 1876), but lazy Republicans didn’t want to hang out at their respective legislative chambers on election night. They let Democrat Governors and executive branch bureaucrats set the election rules & results in the swing states.

Pence wasn’t worried about being hanged either, he was laughing with Romney walking down a corridor on January 6th.This story is Daily Kos/Democrat Underground material, the liberals got to pretend they cared about Pence’s safety.

As far a Pence being a traitor over a one day dispute with the President. Its bullshit.Trump and Pence got along just fine for 1459 days.

I had a fight with my wife of 10 years last month..... Should I divorce her?

He’ll no!

Mature adults don’t “burn up” relationships over one fight. They work things out and move forward.

takes issue with Trump defending calls by his supporters to kill the former vice president.

When exactly did that happen?

He was concerned enough to call former vice president Dan Quayle, I believe he called the acting secretary of defense to ask the building be cleared in a panicked phone call…but it any rate as I understand it and it will be clear his staff is cooperating with the congressional committee and they will be submitting depositions and the like so there should be some more clarity coming up on this is just how serious it was or not.

N8ce post. Thanks for the reasonable approach that was a hallmark here many, many years ago. I disagree with trumps lockdown, his bumpstock ban and his syrian refugees. He was amazing on sex trafficking and other things.
To have 100 percent agreement with any pres, isnt going to happen. Here, thats considered a sin. Trump did nothing about hillary, maybe he couldn’t. Glad he got judges appointed.

From a technical, legal standpoint you are correct. He followed the procedure outlined by law, provided that all things were legal and above board and reproach.

The there is where the legality ended. Because it was known in the early hours of Nov. 3rd that something was wrong with the vote counts. And, Pence was present when that was occurring and he knew that something was definitely wrong.

There was enough visual evidence, observational evidence by people who were charged with watching and not allowed to do so, that definitely showed that unlawful shenanigans were committed.

Pence, if he were honorable, should have called for investigations to absolutely make sure that he would be certifying an honest election.

He didn't do that. He certified the results of a dishonest election of a dishonest candidate. That means he was and is dishonest himself. The antithesis of the presonna he tries to project.

Why is the Jan 6th commission wasting time with staff?

Why not subpoena Pence?....cut out the “hearsay” and get to the source.

Answer:

Because the January 6th “Kangaroo Commission” is another Russia Russia, Mueller Time, Impeachment 1 & 2 Farce/Canard. Washington DC has Kabuki investigations down to an “art form.”

The Urban,Internationalist, & Foreign-Centric Media sells this crap all over the globe. Urbane erudite types lap it up.....”hook line and sinker.”

It’s the same every time, anti Trump partisans go crazy about “We got Trump now.”
Then when Trump skates the delusion, hysteria, & frustration sets in. Lucy pulling the football stuff.

Glad you’re excited about the latest Trump investigation, but you won’t be happy in 2024.
