For decades we were told margaine and plant based shortening (like Crisco) was better for you.
Then we found out they were full of trans-fats, they one (and only) fat everyone agrees actually causes heart disease.
Now we're finding out these franken-oils made from beans and seeds using chemical to extract and reformulate the oils cause other problems.
They make big money for the companies producing them, but maybe the rest of us should wise up and go back to the oils and fats people have been using for thousands of years without any problems.

I prefer rape seed oil.
No particular reason. I just enjoy asking for it at the market.

Butter and olive oil may not be perfect, but they are all I use.

The fact that the industry allowed this to be made amazes me. It shows, in grizzly detail, how they chemically extract it, chemically modify it, and chemically deodorize it.
There's nothing natural about canola oil.
Remember, it was sold as machine oil for decades till someone said "hey, let's see if we can sell this stuff for people to eat".

Unfortunately if you buy products like mayonnaise and salad dressings they all have soy bean oil in them.

Most Mayonnaise products use that oil.
Peanut butter has it too.

And animal fats.....I eat a lot of Pork, Chicken and Beef and have maintained a healthy weight of 150lbs for a decade after weighing over 200.

Those oils will kill you.
Say what you want but my cabinet contains: Extra virgin olive oil, Lard, Tallow, Duck Fat, and of course, Butter (grass-fed).

So there’s something true about calling young wimpy males “soy boys?”

Soy is also full of phytoestrogens that can interfere with your own hormone function.

I have yet to discover a mayonnaise without soybean oil, that doesn’t taste completely disgusting.
Yes I’ve tried homemade. Same result. :(

There’s a whole ‘saga’ on the net about increased soy causing the younger males since the 90s to get more feminized. They’re called soyboys for that reason, which seems at least possible for the cause.

Lard is even more perfecter.

A friend raises heritage berkshire hogs, which he processes and sells in our local area by pre-booking. My family buys a bit of meat, but it turns out none of his customers want the lard, even though they have paid for it, so he gives it to me.
There is nothing healthier than cooking with organic, local, pig lard.
