The Nippons were badass when we had to fight them. No doubt they still have that talent which can be turned back on with no problem. The Chicoms may learn the folly of overreach the hard way.

Exactamondo !
Exactly what I’ve been thinking,
Plus
And even more compelling
Japan has a hard on
to retrieve / gain FACE
on the Global History stage.
They have re chanve to become
Global Hero’s !
DEATH TO THE CCP !
Even the honourable Chinese hostages/slaves of the CCP will view the Japanese as hero’s.
Talk about gaining FACE across all Asia !

Japan officially called their first helicopter carriers... DDH... which implied that they were a Destroyer with and aviation deck to service helicopters. They were essentially helicopter carriers like the LPH hulls in the US Navy. But the Japanese Navy seemed allergic to the term "carrier".
standby for all the F-35, Lockheed, Military industrial complex haters. You can hear them running to this thread.

And here we are! Happy now?
Let’s hope the Japs acquire an air superiority fighter to protect the F-35s, perhaps a modern version of the F-22 that is being talked about by the Japs.
“The Chinese were our allies in WWII and the Roosevelt Administration stabbed the Nationalist Chinese in the back in favor of the Communists.”
I think that was Harry Truman. The president that ‘Lost China’ and basically defined the Korean War as a UN “Police Action” so he could avoid reality. He had been an artillery captain in WW1 and so he thought he knew better.
like the man said, may you...
How are the radishes doing by the way, XO in charge of radishes?
I miss your avatar!

Sorry I replied before looking at your handle - the radishes are fine and making their way up yours.
BTW, did you ever find the island of Mozambique?
WOW! This really puts a news twist on the movie, “Final Countdown.”
“Ahead of these trials, the Izumo arrived at Iwakuni last week.”
Iwakuni,
I miss that place, was there at the Marine base for a year, job sucked, but my time in Japan was good.
With Trump in charge I would agree, with Biden I’m not sure we will do anything when the chicoms go after Taiwan other than a strongly worded letter. The chicoms have too much dirt on that old reprobate.
The reference is to the first aircraft to leave a Japanese flight deck since WWII
Sheesh!
“The Nippons were badass when we had to fight them. No doubt they still have that talent which can be turned back on with no problem.”
They still have the Emperor, diminished but still there. I think Bushido (the Way of the Warrior) is pretty much the code du jour in every aspect of Japanese life.
So yeah, they can probably flip the switch and git’er done.
“The Chicoms may learn the folly of overreach the hard way.”
Tell the Japanese this time to make the Rape of Nanking look like high tea at Buckingham Palace.
Don’t be so obtuse. Yes it’s not written very well but the intended message is that this is the first time combat aircraft has flown off of a Japanese ship since WWII. Understand now?
Seriously, I thought the news story meant that US airplanes had taken off from Japanese carriers in WWII. Maybe we did some research on their remaining carriers, or we flew troops onto their carriers to ensure compliance of the surrender.
I never thought they meant planes in general.
Mea Culpa. Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa.
With the Chicoms, it's all about quantity regardless of ability. With the Japanese, it's all about quality with excellence in abilities. Similar to the Israeli's qualities within a small nation. China is a paper tiger.
I’ve been reading a book about the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Force in WWII.
Midway really screwed them up.
I was surprised at the number of their pilots who were not college graduates.
I’m not sure that they had enough bombers.
They also seemed to have a problem protecting their bombers.
They really didn’t like the P-51.
