It may, depending on how it is set up. I have been out of estate planning for a few years but trusts do help eliminate some of the tax burden.
We all know that Gates is buying up a lot of farmland, the left want to control our food supply. When a farmer does not want to sell they just wait them out until the death tax is due. One of two things happen, either they pay the tax, which most will not have the liquidity for, or it is sold at a fire sale. One of my former clients inherited 3 family farms. He had to sell one of them to pay the estate tax.
It is not a bug, its a feature.
So farmland can drive out privately-owned family farms and pass them into the hands of the Communists.
Gotta be some way around it. While still alive, sell to third party who will sell it back to the kids? Or just sell it to kids cheap?

In the 80’s I thought John Cougar and Bruce Springsteen were the bomb. Wore their cassette tapes out in my car, wormed my way to the front row of Farm aid 1985 to see John Cougar. Then I found out how big of Liberal POS’s they both are and now feel totally duped by them. Typical liberals! phony BS to the core!
We have relatives in that situation.
They can’t sell or even give the farm to their kids, because they reasonably believe (imho) the kids would immediately cash out and leave them homeless.
Just because someone is family does not mean the relationship is solid.
Rwanda, anyone? I guess they forgot what happens when you turn farmland over to people who know nothing about farming. Either that or they want to starve us.
So.
I am not a farmer. I grew up rural. So I can tell you this much. Farming/Agriculture is a trade, even though it’s not recognized as such. Most of the people doing it, have done it since early childhood. You don’t leave your desk job and take up farming or ranching, your going to fail.
Joe Biden does this, and you will be looking at loosing control of the food supply for this country and many others. Skyrocketing corporate price fixing, probably starvation, not to mention bad land management.
This may be good for the person who owns the most farmland in the United States (Bill Gates), but it’s bad news for the average American.
The ones who will starve will be eth city dwellers.
A small one acre plot will feed a family of four for a year at a time..............

I agree, I have a mini farm - produces just enough to provide enough veggies, fruit, eggs and dairy for my family and a few neighbors. It has taken me 15 years to feel even slightly competent doing this - and throw in an unexpected change in weather or pest, and I am back to square one sometimes.
And that is a small, backyard farm. This is a disaster.
