Current Tesla batteries are expected to last approximately 1 million miles before they drop below 80% of original charging capacity

The Tesla Model S drive unit warranty has been increased to match that of the battery pack. That means the 85 kWh Model S, our most popular model by far, now has an 8 year, infinite mile warranty on both the battery pack and drive unit. There is also no limit on the number of owners during the warranty period.
Moreover, the warranty extension will apply retroactively to all Model S vehicles ever produced.

What happens to spent batteries? They are recycled by companies such as American Battery Technology, that can disassemble the batteries, and recover 98% of the elements at battery grade levels, and return them to the battery supply chain within HOURS. This company is working with DuPont and BASF to use this technology to change what is a very environmentally damaging process into a very Green (and cost efficient/ profitable) process

As for cost, it will cost about $20 to recharge a Tesla with 450 mile range and the latest Supercharge stations are being upgraded from 250 KW to 300 KW. So if you drive ~400 miles between charges, a quick stop at a SuperCharger while you grab a snack should send you on your way. Gas will likely continue to go up, but electricity should remain flat or increase slightly. If you put a charge station in at home, your monthly electric bill will go up; but gas and maintenance go to zero for a net savings

For now, driving a 20 yr old Tacoma with 225k miles on it on my daily commute (63 miles each way) and a 2011 Lexus RX350 as family vehicle

Only math I needed to do was EV charging time versus how long it takes me to fill my gas tank and driving distance in a gas powered vehicle versus how far a battery powered vehicle WON’T go.......I’ll pass thanks.

I just learned in FR today that Kali, Colorado, and a few other western liberal hellholes banned Dell Alienware computers because they take too much electricity. I believe if the computer consumed more than 75KwH per year then it cannot be sold in those states.

Think about that. A computer can be banned for electricity use while the states push to sell electric vehicles.

Li ranks 33rd in the earths crust, less prevalent than carbon or even copper or nickel.
