Conservatives are the true environmentalists. I applaud this. Florida is absolutely beautiful in its nature and essential for wildlife. The other issue is water as Miami metro area sucks it out of the Everglades.

Nice! In addition to preserving some of these beautiful places and benefitting the birds, I think it will be good for Florida’s “nature tourism” industry. At the moment, the only places that benefit from this are local private businesses, such as the Aliigator Farm, which is packed with photographers from all over the country during migration season. They’ve worked hard to make it an attractive touch-down for the birds, even though of course it’s right in the middle of a heavily populated area.
I think this is a good thing. The state should try to capitalize more on our natural beauty and important natural areas as tourist attractors and make some income off it or encourage more private businesses to get in on the act. We want to keep our state tax free!
Aside from that, it is good for the birds, and birds are a primary form of mosquito control, so it’s good for all of us.

I think its a great idea. Migratory birds absolutely need protected areas, not just in Florida but across the entire country.

This sounds nice, but the notion of wildlife corridors has also been pushed by environ-MENTAL-ists to help herd us into the cities, as far as I know.

Yup.
Government is ALWAYS a sledge hammer, NEVER a scalpel.
Who will lose their farm or home?
Who will be told they can’t have their outside lights on because of turtles? Whoops. Already there...
What about panthers, black bears and such animals that are few in number?
How many more restrictions on land common use?

I agree with you. As long as property rights are respected and it’s not a “Big Dog” payoff to NGOs, friends ofnpols and the connected, I’m fine with it.
With the water wars here on Florida, corruption and waste is rampant. They’ll probably fk this up too.

LOL! Autocorrect knows all…
That said, yes, I hope it goes well. Everybody wants their piece of the action, and of course there are so many local jurisdictions involved that it will be complicated. Vigilance will be required!
