O’Reilly is trying to be conservative again. Remember he would defend Barack Obama, and he used to be anti-Clinton, then he started praising them.
Do you mean the early 2000s? He didn’t become a big star until the 2000s.
Trump and Bill O’Reilly have been good friends for 30 + years. I’m willing to bet they’ve had dinner together several times discussing this. And just getting together as friends.
BOR interviewed him during the 2016 campaign on his Fox show, and did a “full disclosure” FYI before he brought Trump out. He told his audience they had been friends for 30 years, went to baseball games at Yankee stadium together, but for the interview, it was all business, BOR was a journalist, not a friend once the cameras came on.
I’m no huge BOR fan, but he has always been a Trump supporter, and even during the interview he confronted Trump on the air about some policy he disagreed with. Not many people could get away with what he did...
I was surprised, but he almost shouted “Donald, you know you can’t do that!” Trump just smiled and said “Bill, we have to”. Wish I could remember what the policy idea was.
He also talked about his tax plan, BOR said OK so you’re telling me you’re pushing a tax plan that means YOU pay more taxes?
Trump said yes, it will cost me a fortune but we have to do it.
Did the same thing when interviewed by Hannity, who has also been a friend for 20 years plus. WHen asked about his tax plan he got the same reaction, had the same reply.
I think it was in the Hannity interview he explained about the ice skating rink deal in NYC. He said he didn’t know a thing about how to build an ice skating rink, he just knew he could do it. So he put in the offer...the rest is history. He got it done in under 6 months, when contractors who supposedly did know what they were doing had failed terribly for several years. I think it was 7 years. And he got it done under budget. After they had wasted million$.
But this really doesn’t surprise me, they’ve been friends for a very long time, and Trump knows BOR will give him a fair shake. It won’t be a typical media hit piece.
Oh yeah, BOR is also registered as an independent, not a republican. He had to bring that up several times on his show.
