>> A week before the election Melania announced that President Trump and her both fully supported gay marriage. Probably just a matter of time before he would have supported this perversion too. Hopefully some Christian leader in his life straightens him out soon. <<

I was arguing with some FReeper the other day who insisted Trump "accepted Christ shortly after becoming President" and was then "born again", and "became a Christian", I guess in 2017. News to everyone, including Trump himself, apparently.

I said that legalizing Gay Marriage made it possible for Trump to win the nomination, and become President, because he never had to address the issue.

It was one of the reasons I was vehemently against Trump being the GOP nominee. Fortunately, he turned out to be a LOT better than I expected on social issues (unfortunately, I was right that his “pledge” to name “Scalia-like judges” was just baseless rhetoric to get votes).

And oddly enough, the same was true of George W. Bush...

Your problem is that you’re thinking with a MAGA brain. Adjust to RAT thinking and you’ll feel much better.

I’m not against gays getting married, per se.

The problem was that legalizing gay marriage would open up a Pandora’s Box of all kinds of bad stuff, and well, here we are.

I don't think President Trump has a fraction of iota of regret about his judges. They are doubtlessly the greatest nominations of all time, practically pefect, in every way. Nothwithstanding they didn't cock an eyebrow over the blatant voting fraud and usurpations.

>>It is not heading anywhere — it has arrived at a point of no return and no shame.<<

Oh no...I believe it could sink even further. How bout bestiality? Perhaps normalizing pedophilia and or polygamy. Every evil thing that can be imagined, the anti-christ will facilitate it.

Think about a few decades ago, I'd never ever had thought holy matrimony would be perverted with the decision by the SCOTUS to make homosexual marriage the law of the land.

He does. Even Trump admitted his "list" from 2016 (that FReepers were crowing about at the time) turned out to be a dud (expressing remorse over it), and was having his advisors come up with a new and improved "list" around the time RBG croaked. I don't know if they ever finished it, but if it was the SAME people who drew his first "list" writing the new one, I don't know why anyone would expect it would be better.

On the other hand, I can someone excuse Nixon and Reagan giving us lousy judges like Lewis F. Powell and Anthony Kennedy because they had TRIED to name solid conservatives to those seats, only to see the Senate torpedo those nominees REPEATEDLY, so they finally relented and went with lukewarm "confirmable" judges instead.

But Trump didn't even try, he just settled for mediocre center-right establishment hack judges in the FIRST place, and now we're stuck with them for 30+ years.

So overall I rate his track record for "good judges" to be on the level of Eisenhower or so.

Disagree. I think the GOP base has a lot of themselves to blame for the current hacks on SCOTUS. For example, if Trump had nominated Harriet Miers (instead of GWB), I have little doubt she'd be "Justice Harriet Miers" now, and her appointment would have been widely praised in conservative circles as an "outstanding originalist" nominee. Franklin Graham would have made the rounds of various conservative talk shows to tell us how awesome she is.

The United States of America has become a freak show.

It is all part of the plan. Our country had the best, most popular president in decades. THEY decided to run an aging hack and a trollop against him to steal the election and push it in our faces. Now they will pull out the most outrageous people and executive orders just to prove to us who is running everything. The SCOTUS has already told us who rules on everything.

They’ll push Richard and win. It’s pretty hopeless. I don’t know why people on here even think it’s possible to turn back time.
