Dolly tries to avoid talking politics. Probably because she’s a liberal, and doesn’t want to lose her conservative fans (money).
The old ones grew up blue because Republicans favored city elites. The young ones are blue because they see themselves as an elite.
You’ll have to cut and paste the URL to the browser address bar, not sure how it got mangled trying to post the link from my phone.
She is a has-been relic from a country that doesn’t even exist anymore.
We are not talking about her generosity.
We are talking about her politic’s.
Another lefty who is able to use their money to seal themselves off from the unwashed masses with walled estates, private jets, armed security and guards - while they pretend to be “just one of us.”
You can bet she would have fallen all over herself if Obama had made the offer.
.............I lost interest in Dolly back when she made a movie with Jane Fonda.
Yes. They can all AFFORD to be Liberal now.
If we ever go full COMMUNIST Revolution they will all be the first targeted.
New breed?!?....she’s 75 years old..... been performing professionally since she was 10 and came into national attention at age 14......
She has never been political and clearly stated that her refusals were not political.....
She does a lot of good in her community and consistently supported the troops via the USO......
I’m not a fan but based on her statements and her life’s work she deserves the benefit of the doubt.....
The cancel culture works both ways.....
She KNEW how it would affect her ‘career’.
She does not need politics to get that rich. Dolly has plenty of other investments, not just singing. She does lean social justice/woke, though.

Dolly Parton can tout her apoliticalness all she wants, but her acquaintance with Hanoi Jane is a YYYUUUGGGE red flag. A person is known by the company they keep.
She gave two reasons for not accepting the award during the Trump administration. You can believe it or not, but I think they sound reasonable.
She admits in the article that if she were to accept the award from Biden, it would be seen as political. She goes on to say that she's not really even comfortable with such an award, but is flattered to think that others believe she deserves it.
Can you parse it now? Did you even read the article?
Yes. No matter which "side" she picked.
Dolly stirs them up......

Last month, it was revealed that Dolly Parton had donated $1m (£744,000)
to Moderna’s successful effort to develop a vaccine for Covid-19. The
news
inspired a joke (“It’s 9-to-5 per cent effective”), a fond YouTube parody
(Vaccine, to the tune of Jolene), and yet another outpouring
of love for a
woman who inspires as much affection as any celebrity
on Earth.

Agree. I thought her reasons were understandable for a 75 year old woman .
She was also asked if she would accept it from Biden, and she said it would be perceived as political if she did, which she didn’t want.
People on FR read only the headline and set off in a baying pack sometimes that is just as bad as the liberal distortions and hysteria.
She got it from writing many, many songs.
Well, yeah...she made a movie with her (9to5). But it’s a fact that in Hollyweird, people work with people they despise all the time. A couple of instances: William Shatner and George Takei. They hate each other.
Another instances: Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau. They worked together on ‘Hello Dolly”...he even had to kiss her in one scene. However, they were polar opposites politically, and got into shouting matches on set.
Are Fonda and Parton friends? I dunno.
Whether or not they’re liberal or conservative, today’s performers are expected to toe the company line if they want to continue to work.
Dolly herself has accrued GTH money but there are many folks that depend on her name for their livelihood; it makes perfect sense that she’s trying to thread a needle when it comes to politics.
