That’s because they consider themselves royalty, DC as their impenetrabl castle and the rest of us as peasants and serfs. They got bent the peasants stormed the castle. They know they have been screwing the peasants blind for 3 decades and know if we ever find how out just how bad we have been screwed, the next time the peasants will hang each and everyone of them.

I’m a rare conservative federal employee (middle manager) and I considered making a go at it (pursuing a political appointee position for the Trump Administration in my agency). I know I could have done a good job and I’m sure Trump had slim pickings of people like me—and how to even identify those who would be loyal?
But I love my federal Civil Service job and if I had left it there’d be no guarantee I could return, and I don’t live in DC so it would be harder to find another federal management job again. I didn’t want to risk it.

There is great fear among them. The political swamp creatures of all stripes act like a herd, and the finality of the coup (for now) has spooked the heard, so they all run.

We seem to continually let the left control the narrative.
