The Jewish Community of Warsaw, Poland: We agree with the pro-Abortion protesters
Dziennik.pl ^ | 28 October 2020 | DZ

The Jewish Community of Warsaw issued a special statement supporting the protesters after the Constitutional Court's judgment on abortion.

"We understand the bitterness of women in Poland, including members of the Jewish Community in Warsaw , related to depriving them of the possibility to decide about their life and health, as well as the lives of their families," we read in a statement published in social media.

"It is sad and painful that today women and the men supporting them are forced to defend their rights on the streets of Warsaw and all over Poland in the time of the coronavirus pandemic, which is dangerous for their health and life," continues the Warsaw Jewish Community.

"We agree with the protesters that women have the right to decide for themselves and live with dignity," he concluded.

Protests of many thousands against the tightening of the abortion law have been going on since Thursday. This is the result of a ruling by the Constitutional Tribunal, which stated that a provision allowing - under the 1993 Act - abortion to be allowed in the case of a high probability of severe and irreversible fetal impairment or an incurable life-threatening disease is inconsistent with the constitution

This is only going to lead to anti-semitic feelings

Jews have been hacked by death camp socialists again. Hitler did not invent anything. I am sure this group does not represent jews altogether anyway, but their leftist stiff necked lunatics always at war and wanting the last word against God Himself make the biggest noise all the time.

Translation of the text of the letter

We understand the bitterness of women in Poland, among whom are members of the Jewish Religious Community in Warsaw, related to depriving them of the possibility to decide about their lives and health, as well as the lives of their families.

It is sad and painful that today women and the men supporting them are forced to defend their rights on the streets of Warsaw and all over Poland in the time of the coronavirus pandemic, which is dangerous for their health and life.

We agree with the protesters that women have the right to decide for themselves and live with dignity,

signed
Jewish community of Warsaw

Pinging in two Jewish freepers who I know are believing Jews and I know will oppose the feelings expressed in this letter.

SJackson, PP, I'm pinging you just so that you would know about this as it may come up in other contexts

To Judgem --> these people definitely do NOT represent all Jews worldwide. however they claim to and officially do, represent the small Jewish community in Warsaw

To me, this is appalling in three ways

  1. This is supporting the pro-death people -
  2. This was something they could have shut up about - it's not a religious issue affecting them directly
  3. Even if many Jews disavow these remarks, this is going to provide ammunition for anti-semites

The Community is not an orthodox organization and its members practice both traditional and liberal Judaism. …
Just for the record, from their About Us page.

The signees of the letter

In 1999 and 2001 he was a Nahum Goldmann Fellow, and in 2000 and 2002 a Community Service Scholarship He was the chairman of the Jewish Religious Community in Warsaw and a member of the board of the Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Poland

On April 11, 2014, he became the vice-president of the Jewish Community in Warsaw [4]. On November 30, 2014, he became the chairman of the Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Poland [1].

He is a founding member of B'nai B'rith Polska, reactivated in 2007.

---------------

He should be ashamed of putting the name of the "Jewish community of Warsaw" to his letter -- he is sullying the name

These idiots don’t know Jewish law.

Abortion is restricted in Judaism to situations where the pregnancy poses a real and imminent risk to the life of the mother ( and thus also the child, such as with an ectopic pregnancy).

Just more liberals self appointing themselves as leaders, when they are no such thing.

It's not even a Jewish religious organization - I'm sure it has tons of unbelievers as the believing Jews moved to Israel after WWII and the ones left were unbelieving, fiercely atheist people of Jewish descent, who were communists.

Yet they take the name "Jewish community" and then besmirch it. Disgusting.

Though I vehemently disagree with their position..it’s murder...they are allowed their opinion.

And it seems like anti-Semitism must be alive and well there to be set off by this.

Perhaps the younger generation there is pro abortion also.

I’m guessing I know which group would be attacked first and be the only ones attacked for their position.

Ologi pointed out their "about" page - and it's clear by their names that they are definitely descendants of non-believing "people of Jewish origin" - I'm going to guess of communist parents.

Do you think they care what Jewish law teaches? They are Jews In name only

They want to score points with the left, not to follow God's laws... oh and along the way they are going to smear the word "Jewish"

Is it too hard for these liberal jews to support human life and not child sacrifice. The little humans in the womb are at the mercy of capricious decisions. They need all help they can get

I would like to see where you are getting your statistics about where “believing” and “non believing’ Jewish folks stayed or went to after WWII.

Was this a question on a census? :)

Like I said in my last post, they have every right to their own opinion.

But you are bending over backwards, where no reason is needed to, to promote a position you have no factual basis to push.

Unless, as I said, there was a questionnaire pertaining to whether one was a Believer that was given out at the time asking people why they are staying or going to Israel or going to the US :)

Suffer the children to come unto me.

What an abomination we have allowed to take place.

60 million dead humans, and counting. If people wish to support abortion, they should do so without claiming to do it as a part of some group. I don't think of this person as a fine upstanding Jew. It angers me to see him act as if he is.

Would that there was someone like you on the board to defend we Catholics when the loudest Catholic group spouts insane positions that we, the “Believers” do not support.

I’ll hold out for that hero :)

Either way, Jews and Catholics have been and will be easy targets in the 20th and now going into the 21st century.

Well, look - it's the leadership of an official community (They run the Jewish administration in Warsaw) and they use the name "Jewish community"

This is just ammunition for anti-semitism.

As to "the younger generation is pro abortion also" -- to a large extent, in the cities, YES. The younger ones are the ones attacking churchs

And storming into Churches during services with signs like "Pray for Abortion", "Abortion is a sacrament"

The "Jewish council of Warsaw" to associate itself with these?! The council may be Jewish in name only but they are associating all of Judaism in their letter

It would be great if POLISH Jewish associations could stand up and say "hey, we don't agree with this"

dp - the problem is that this is an official, administrative group.

The “Jewish council of Warsaw” has administrative rights like any “county administration” in the USA.

It’s not like a group of Catholics, Baptists etc. making statements, but this is more like, say, the administration of Newark city supporting protests in New York.
