Good optics for an electorate that values diversity. Justice Thomas should be a role model and great source of pride for black America, and conservative women will finally have a woman on the court who shares their values. Of course the left will continue to portray both as villains.

If Roberts continues to join the other libtards in his Souter like slip to the left, and Barrett shows herself to be a reliable Conservative, the Senior Justice in the majority selects the majority opinion author for a given case.
Clarence Thomas is the Senior Justice on the Conservative bloc.
