If they were on my property, I’d shoot. Especially before dawn.

A street sweeper would be better.
(A street sweeper is a modified 12 gauge shotgun that has a 30 round drum magazine that is loaded, if I remember correctly, with 00 buck.)
Several blasts from one of those would definitely send a message: get off my property and you are not welcome.

If they are threatening harm, they are not protestors, they are rioters. Rioters NEED to be shot!

Check out brandishing Illegal in many states, misdemeanor sometimes.
Here in New Jersey the brandishing law effectively precludes armed self-defense. If you scare off an assailant by displaying a weapon you'll get more jail time than he would for assaulting you!

I’ve heard liberals lie that this is a sign of respect. I bring up the Game of Thrones reference - it is submission, not respect.

It seems hard to define, to me. The victim (the one without the gun) feels threatened.
In TX, it is not defined in Penal Code. They might try to get you on disorderly conduct, but that very specifically states "in a public place" for almost every line of that code.
For CA, where the article's situation is, all you gotta do is exhibit a firearm in an angry/threatening manner. As calm as the husband may have been, it's real hard to argue that pointing it at someone isn't considered a "threatening manner". So, I would say hubby should definitely be heading to jail for at least three months, but of course his DA wife will decline to prosecute... It is a stupid law, unConstitutional, but it's what CA wants!
CA Penal Code Ch 417
(2) Every person who, except in self-defense, in the presence of any other person, draws or exhibits any firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, in a rude, angry, or threatening manner, or who in any manner, unlawfully uses a firearm in any fight or quarrel is punishable as follows:
(B) In all cases other than that set forth in subparagraph (A) [in a public place]
, a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not less than three months.

CA brandishing law has the same thing, but unless the mob made some kind of overt aggresive act, it'll be hard to justify self-defense, especially in a liberal hellhole like LA.
