You dont understand what a metaphor is do you?
While specifically NOT about himit fits his VN experience to a tee.
John is old Forgerty. He should be happy that President Trump is still making him relevant!!!
So being the writer/singer of the group gives John license to make the rest of the members hate him?
Probably more to the story than we know.
The fact that JF has spent possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years unsuccessfully suing people says volumes.
I had to call this fellow back in the late 90s when I was working for a certain music label.
I politely identified myself and said why I was calling.
(It was not a sales call or a pitch - it was an important business matter.)
He interrupted me with “F YOU” and hung up. We left it with the lawyers.
Just play Courtesy of the Red White and Blue by Toby Keith, or Take a Knee, My Ass by Neil McCoy. Dont need anything else.
I must begrudgingly, but wholeheartedly agree.
John Fogerty was/is an immensely talented musician and singer/songwriter.
He WAS Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Unfortunately, like so many other Rock legends (McCartney immediately comes to mind), hes a hopeless lefty.
Ive had to resign myself to ignoring the politics of these music stalwarts, lest I spend the rest of my days cranking up the volume on the latest Marie Osmond CD.
Gosh, I really liked his voice. Oh, well. BUH-BYE Idiot!
Brian Wilson was a musical genius who some say created the California surfing/beach genre of music.
He also demanded, and got, that he be the one to produce the Beach Boys recordings. That was something unheard of at the time but Brian knew no one else could hear the music he heard in his head. That was in an era when studios kept tight control over every aspect of their signed talent and product.
Brian pioneered recording techniques that were unheard of at the time but are considered staples today.
On top of that Brian is a genuinely nice guy who is to this day very humble.
Oh, and Brian has been deaf in one year since he was hit by a neighborhood bully with a pipe.
Contrast that to John Fogerty who is neither an innovator nor a genius.
Fogerty isn’t fit to shine Brian’s shoes, his massive ego notwithstanding.
STOP SINGING YOU ASSHOLE !! JUST SHUT UP!!!!
“I’m actually sympathetic to John’s point of view with respect to the band.”
Be that as it may, it still doesn’t give one license to be a massive asshat to every person who pays the fee and uses his music.
JF is a petulant child who never grew up.
But that’s just my MHO.
Oh that’s interesting. So which is this an order or a letter? And why would a letter hold any weight at all if they were paid their 20cents public use royalty. The article says it’s an order but we all know how well these articles are researched and sourced.
It’s a bit confusing to me because i’d tell him go Fogerty himself. And then use his song every chance i get in the worst way possible until Amy Coney Barrett send me an official letter from the USSC!
CCR can be forgiven only because of the best music video ever:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kva4UndarE8
Cretins Clearwater Revival.
Looks like Fogerty used the term order in his tweet so thats what the article went with. Guess neither the article writer nor Fogerty did their due diligence.
And I agree; Id play his entire collection every chance I got!
What a faggot
Wow, another reason to vote for Trump!
A few additions to your post re: Brain Wilson and the technical side of the recordings...
HUGE kudos must be given to Gold Star Studios, their state-of-the-art studio incl their reverb and how Phil Spector used that facility to create his “Wall of Sound” that taught Brian Wilson tons of technical know how.
More HUGE kudos to the “A-Class” studio musicians known as The Wrecking Crew who made BB records so professional. The WC was truly the best of the best and included Hal Blaine (drums), Carol Kaye (bass), Glen Campbell (guitar), Leon Russell (piano)...just to name a few.
Finally, the genius of Larry Levine, the house engineer at Gold Star, cannot be understated as he was the tech who assembled the tools and made everything work.
Yes, Brian was a genius in writing his pop songs and arranging the vocals. His masterpiece, Pet Sounds, leaned so heavy on his lyricist, Tony Asher who added adult themes that made Brian’s lyrics sound like sophisticated bubble gum rhymes.
A friend is a highly acclaimed mastering engineer who re-mastered Pet Sounds using Brian’s original mono mix. I feel quite blessed to have a CDR from that master.
I knew about the Wrecking Crew. Great musicians who recorded for quite a few acts. Unknown to the public until the 90’s they recorded for everyone from Sinatra to Sonny and Cher.
Brian recorded Pet Sounds while the guys were out touring using the Wrecking Crew. When the BB heard the album they didn’t like it. Mike Love HATED it. It was a huge departure from what they had been doing. Love even told Brian “Don’t f××k with the formula.” Eventually the guys talked Mike into going along with the album.
When the album sales started out slow Mike used that as a club to beat Brian back into writing the same old same old. The music scene ended up passing the BB’s as more adult content found its way onto the air.
Brian recorded parts of the Good Vibrations single in four different studios then dubbed each recording into the whole to get the total sound he wanted. That one single cost $50,000 to get the finished product. A staggering amount at that time. But Brian got the sound he wanted.
Brian even saw the rise of psychedelic rock before it became big.
If I had a CD of the remastered Pet Sounds you would have to call the moon to get in touch with me. :=)
Just a short clarification...
The Wrecking Crew played on most of the BB albums. In reality, the BB were just a vocal group not unlike vocal groups of the 50s - Four Freshman, etc.
Brian was superb with his vocal arrangements as was John Philips of the M&Ps.
My Pet Sounds CDR was *burned* direct from the master tape and not pressed on a commercial machine. The sound quality is very, very good.
I also have CDRs burned from master tapes of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Ella F, Doors (1st and LA Woman), Miles Davis, Doobies, Searchers, Eva Cassidy, etc. Many are “dry” before the reverb was added for the commercial release. Some even have studio chatter that was omitted on the final release.
Finally, I partnered with my friend on 5-6 remastered projects and he was kind enough to include my website in the album’s mastering credits.
Some very special & priceless gifts from friend...
Amazing for a kid born/raised in Ohio, moved to Hollywood within 5 minutes of the Capitol Records Tower, returned to Ohio...and then do a mastering project for Capitol Records.
Circle of life, I guess.
“The Wrecking Crew played on most of the BB albums. In reality, the BB were just a vocal group not unlike vocal groups of the 50s - Four Freshman, etc.”
A lot of the groups of that era didn’t record their own music. The really good musicians were in the studio recording while the names were out touring. The live sound of the day couldn’t compare with the studio sound. The technology just wasn’t there to duplicate the studio sound live.
“Brian was superb with his vocal arrangements as was John Philips of the M&Ps.”
Without Brian there wouldn’t have been a BB.
John Phillips was a great arranger. The M&P’s sound was great. He was a crappy person but he knew music.
“I also have CDRs burned from master tapes of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Ella F, Doors (1st and LA Woman), Miles Davis, Doobies, Searchers, Eva Cassidy, etc. Many are dry before the reverb was added for the commercial release. Okay, I’m officially green with envy.
I would store them safely and guard them with my life!
You’ve had an interesting life.
