Luxembourg? Being the space flight super-power they are I am surprised they bequeathed us any rights to the moon at all.

Except neither the UN nor the EU is mentioned or involved in this Artemis Accords.

A nice way to say the US government now claims jurisdiction over what you do on other planets Except the Artemis Accords is the exact opposite of what you are saying.

The United Arab Emirates’ historic first mission to Mars is under way, after a successful lift-off in Japan.
The Hope probe launched on an H2-A rocket from Tanegashima spaceport, and is now on a 500-million-km journey to study the planet's weather and climate.
Two previous attempts to launch the probe in the past week had to be called off because of adverse weather.
Hope's arrival in February 2021 is set to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the UAE’s formation.

They have no business passing laws about anyone doing anything away from the earth. The legal powers of earths governments should stop at the Karman line.

I’ve been saying it for years, the Moon is the territory of the USA. Any country that wants to land there needs our permission with an adequate landing fee as well as a daily lease fee, at least 100 million a day to explore with all data turned over to the United States government. Minimum. I’m not joking.

As long as several different countries are going to be there with sometimes conflicting interests and aims, it is necessary to have rules to resolve any potential conflicts, like where every country will set up their base, rules on how to exploit resources etc,
To: SmokingJoe
Says you. Nobody on earth has any right to set rules for other planets or the moon. And it is not even a problem anyway. It is a bureaucrat diplomatic full employment act.
We have an existential crisis in the nation right at the moment and jackasses in the government are working on this.

As long as mankind decides to settle anywhere, they are going to be rules, because conflict inevitably develops between humans. It has nothing to do with where those humans are at.
You put a million humans on Mars today, and it will be same humans with the same faults and conflicts. Nothing will change just because you are on a different planet. There will always be rules.

Artemis as a Greek Goddess is an archetype huntress, sports a bow with quiver of arrowspossible the character Katniss Everdeen may have been patterned upon her.
