Our Navy and military in general is more interested in diversity and political correctness than war fighting. Nothing has changed on that since 2009.

The article comes from National Interest which is a CCP front publication that does nothing but propagandize against the US and our military. If one reads enough of their articles one will notice that our military just never stacks up against the Chinese or Russians. Of course the opposite is true.

We could build ships. What we couldn’t do is create the computer systems to run it. We don’t have access to REM or the production facilities to build them.

As long as the Chinese blow up a carrier every four or five years, we could keep up.

But...they take a long time to build their ships too. They just build three or four at a time.

Your expectation of it being in Asia alone is old-war thinking.

Ships don’t have to get real close when they fire missiles that can fly 3,000 miles an hour. And their satellites will be doing damage in space.

LA, San FR, Seattle and NYC will be hit.

Honestly, those plans are already done, and in fact they’re updated everytime new intel demands they be updated.

And of course the Chinese will do all that in a vacuum, of course they’ll just attack with impunity we have no defenses against them. Why not just surrender now?

Ships are worthless when you can attack ballistically with missles and wipe the enemies ships and infrastructure in minutes. They have no defensive measures only offense. Thats where we beat them.

Where did I write anything like that?

What a stupid thing to write.

It is the highest level of arrogance to think the ocean will continue to protect us likes its 1935.

Japan would be attacked. ROK would be attacked. Our island bases in the pacific would be attacked. And the west coast would be hit.

Would the country be in ruins? Not close.

But you cannot honestly believe two big folks are going to get into a fight and they both aren’t going to be bloodied.

That’s old arrogance thinking.

All those places will be defended. The thing that provoked my response is this line:

“Ships don’t have to get real close when they fire missiles that can fly 3,000 miles an hour. And their satellites will be doing damage in space.”

Chinese platforms, sensors and weapons do not work nearly as well as advertised and you well know that because SIGINT intercepts of weapon and sensor telemetry prove it beyond any doubt.

Like so many doom and gloomers at FR you made it sound like the Chinese can just attack with impunity and they’ll just get off uncontested shots at CONUS. Well we’re going to know long in advance any Chinese ships or subs getting in position to fire on CONUS. And we have one big advantage over the Chinese, we almost always know where all their ships and subs are, they cannot say the same. And again, you made it sound like the Chinese can just attack our satellites with impunity like we have no defenses against them; you know, we have weapons that will be destroying their satellites and space based systems too, and ours will work a lot better than the Chinese crap they’re going to use, also our satellites do have defenses thus the Chinese will not get them all, a few certainly, the Chinese will get as lucky as the blind squirrel.
Thats why I wrote what I wrote.

As Trump has started doing, we need to extract our manufacturing from China, and bring it back home.

You are so full of feces it’s scary you can breathe. I never wrote anything that said the Chines could attack with impunity. Of course we would shoot back.

The problem is you did not read my post. At least, you did not comprehend my post. All you want to do is wave the flag and scream.

Your arguments suggest that no matter what China does, we will swat them out of the air before they are a threat. That was the thinking in October 1941. If you know anything, you know depending on the last war as your plan, is a bad plan.

You better hope Iran and N. Korea agree with you. I don’t think they would nuke us directly but a nuke powered EMP from either of them would destroy us.

A nice segue into another EMP tread? It's been quite some time we had a good one of those.

After that, we're overdue for a Fluoride thread.

I think we can build anti-ship missiles and torpedoes faster than the Chinese can build ships.

Your analysis of surface warfare is sapient. Ships have become the big lumbering tanks of the ocean. And as Bill Mauldin said of tanks, “a moving foxhole attracts the eye.”

You really should discover the ‘kill chain’:

Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, Assess.

Hard to fix, track, and target from shore, especially when there are tens of thousands of ‘neutral’ ships milling about.

In 1942-43 the US built and launched 92 aircraft carriers.

Now, it takes nine years to build one.

To quote one of Obama’s heroes: “Quantity has a quality all its own”.

Believe what you want but what I believe any county that wanted to take out another country without widespread nuclear weapons use a single nuclear EMP will do that. Nuclear test in the US and USSR in the 1960s verified the presence of EMP. So some day if your sitting there watching TV or on your cell phone and it suddenly dies as does your pacemaker if you have one and 6,000 volts come running down the power line into your house and destroys all your appliances or you are out side and see airplanes come spiraling out of the sk, you might become an EMP beliver.

This isn’t October 41. We have the best world-wide network of sensors in the world, we have the best technical intel gathering the world has ever seen and basically a 24/7 watch on a lot of the world, especially our enemies. You’re the one living in the past. I will agree though the US has had a habit of getting caught with our pants down and it is possible the first battle will take us by surprise and give us a bloody nose, but that will only happen once. And following that first engagement, when our Admirals and Generals would be free to go at them with everything we’ve got (not nukes unless they used them), China would be on borrowed time from that moment on. And yes, for the most part we would swat their hardware out of the sky, not all but the vast majority, and within a few months every Chinese submarine would be sunk, the first to go would be their boomers, they would not last very long if China and the US actually went to war.
