Ohio Gov Signs Law to Extend Current Concealed License Expiration

Yesterday, Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 614 into law, legislation that should help to relax the concerns of law-abiding Ohio gun owners whose CHLs are expiring soon.

An amendment to HB 614 extends all CHL expiration dates through at least June 30, 2021. In addition, if a license expires between April 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021, the license is further extended an additional 90 days past the expiration date.

The amendment also removes the contiguous county requirement during the time of Ohio's “emergency order” related to the COVID virus.  So, a licensee may renew at ANY sheriff’s​ office in Ohio.  The law ordinarily restricts applications and renewals to a person's home county and adjacent counties.

Surprise! Surprise!
Illinois did about the same thing.
FOID cards and CCL’s that expire during the “crisis” or “emergency” or WTH they're calling the China Disease are good for one year after the event has officially ended.
I was thinking about this the other day and I realized that by being a citizen of Illinois, I may never have to do anything about either of these attacks on my rights again.

The local radio gun show talked about this but warned about carrying on an Ohio license in a state with a reciprocal agreement because they may not know about the expiration date extension.

Where I live - we don’t need State permission to exercise our 2nd Amendment rights.

Out of Staters do need a CCW license - tho Alaska recognizes most all of ‘em.

Totally unsatisfactory since any licensing requirement to bear arms is unconstitutional. They should need to pass constitutional carry like Arizona.
