Well economics also has laws that if broken also have detrimental effects. And yet you think that sticking to what is economically sound is uselessly being a “purist”. Well, too many like you for too long have acquiesced to the unconstitutional and economically disastrous policies of the Left because you don’t want to be “purist.”
Time to stick to what’s sound and true and stop compromising with hell - as Hayek called it - the Road to Serfdom. Now is a prefect time for Trump to fight this battle and show the Left for who they really are - thieves and liars. But you’d rather take the expedient road - the road of least resistance. OK well the end of that road there’s hell to pay.
You slough off economically unsound “stimulus” now with some vague “making it up later”. But my FRiend, “later” never comes. NOW IS later and now is the time to draw the line. Every time you delay the absolute necessity of cutting government spending and growth it become harder to do the next time.

You have two forces of nature involved here, economics and politics. Sure, it would be great economics to refuse to give relief to small businesses, airlines, citizens. But it would be lousy politics, because they would vote for the guy offering the free stuff, and economics be damned. Two conflicting forces of nature, however, are managed all the time. Any sailboat that goes into a headwind has to strike a balance between the pull of the wind on one side, and the push of the wind on the other. When the wind is 45 degrees forward, you have to utilize the pull. When it’s directly abeam, you utilize the pull and the push in equal proportions, but have to struggle against the imbalance created by putting weight a-weather, so you don’t tip over. If the wind is at your back, you can rely on the push alone and sail with an even keel. I submit to you that the pull of politics right now requires a stimulus, and that the push of economics threatens to unbalance the country, so ballast must be employed to keep the whole damned thing afloat. I.e., a stimulus, but a trimmed down stimulus with no money for concert halls, planned parenthood, insolvent pension plans and other crap.
There's no tomorrow at all if we lose the election. I know many Republicans, many of whom are elderly, who are desperately hoping for one more check to help keep the wolf from their doors.
If re-elected, I have the utmost faith that President Trump will NOT be presiding over a recession due to a final round of stimulus checks...his pre-pandemic track record proves he'll be right back in the economic groove again....and one more pre-election stimulus check (without Pelosi's pork) to small businesses and common folk alike will not impede him in Making America Great Again...and will certainly help elect him President again!

There hasn’t been relentless inflation for years (throughout Trump’s presidency). What the heck are you talking about? Occasionally certain sectors will get a bit inflationary, but the general overall economy is not suffering from rampant inflation.
What’s coming our way if Biden wins will indeed be inflation, and/or a depression, socialism, thought control, cancel culture, over-regulation, profligate spending on the likes of climate change, social justice, defunding law enforcement and hiring social workers to police dept’s instead. Religious repression, amoral gov’t behavior, increasing support for the gay agenda, schools spewing forth liberal propaganda to children thus indoctrinating them to be the foot soldiers of the future, need I go on?
And you would deprive the citizens of this Country who have been told they will receive a second stimulus check during this pandemic, that they won’t get it? Great political instinct you have there. And you are such a snotty know-it-all in tone. Geez, you obviously think our President is an economic idiot in spite of the fact that he graduated from Wharton school of business, has been a businessman all his life, is a multi-billionaire, and is surrounded by the best economic minds both in business and gov’t, that there are. But you know more, right Mr. Brilliance?
I trust Trump and his economists over anything you say. The stimulus money all goes back into the economy one way or the other no matter how you slice the cake. And there are a lot of people out there living on the financial edge, such as the hospitality industry that has been decimated, along with businesses that are still shut down in Dem states, many of the shop owners working there whom aren’t Dems. Many conservative folks involved in the agricultural business and living in rural areas, are stuck in the wrong states.
Distribution and transportation of goods is still faulty, and lots of layoffs (see airline industries) are occurring now in real time. So many people are being laid off or are out of work. I take it you are not one of them, or you are retired and don’t have to worry about such things as keeping your financial head above water. If so, lucky you. I’m thinking about the others. I’m on Trump’s side, I trust him. Your opinion, not so much.....

They hear the word “hospital” and assume he’s in bed; whereas the VIP suite at Walter Reed has a living room with sofas, desks and armchairs, a meeting room with a large table suitable for dining, an office with comms eqipment and desks, a regular bedroom with chairs, and also a clinical hospital room. I highly doubt they are even able to confine him to bed.
