Comey defends FBI Russia probe from GOP criticism
The Hill ^ | 09 30 2020 | Jordain Carney and John Bowden

Former FBI Director James Comey on Wednesday sought to defend the bureau’s 2016 investigation into Russian election interference against Senate Republicans' allegations of bias against the Trump campaign.

Comey testified before the GOP-led Senate Judiciary Committee, which is examining the origins of the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the presidential race and ties between the Kremlin and Trump.

While Comey indicated he would’ve made some decisions differently had he known about the faults in applications for wiretaps on then-Trump campaign aide Carter Page, he defended the investigation as a whole.

“I would say in the main it was done by the book, it was appropriate and it was essential that it be done...There are parts of it that are concerning … but overall I’m proud of the work,” Comey said.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is months into an investigation that touches broadly on “Crossfire Hurricane,” the name for the FBI’s investigation; the subsequent probe led by former special counsel Robert Mueller; and warrant applications under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

When asked by Graham whether it was “fair to say” the FBI investigation was “not done by the book,” Comey replied: “No, I don’t think that is fair to say.”

I will personally celebrate when Comey is in prison.

“Comey replied: ‘No, I don’t think that is fair to say.’”

How can he make that assessment with his obviously failed memory?

Oh, for God’s sake. This is like saying the rotation of the tires on my car was done “mostly correctly, except for the slightly loose lug nuts on one wheel.

Most of us know, or have a good idea what happened. Hell there is more then enough facts out in public to convict many for treason. But the obvious truth is that we will never see official acknowledgement or anyone held accountable for what happened. Now that they have gotten away with that, they will double down. Everything from this point forward is just a slow decent into communism, there is no stopping it now. Doubt me? watch what happens to election results after the election is over. We had our chance, but we were too complicit and did nothing.

There are parts of it that are concerning

No liar! The whole of it was illegal.

If there was justice in this country, this guy and his henchmen would be prosecuted fully.

Did anyone expect that he would come out and confess to any misdeed? No matter high a level of shyster he is, he’s not stupid.

I think you meant we were too complacent..

The people who were complicit were both parties putting an ineligible usurper in office who proceeded to corrupt every agency of our government. And we did nothing about it.

All of Comey’s testimony should be viewed in the following light.

1. He is a serial liar.
2. He is a criminal guilty of sedition but not charged.
3. If Trump wins the election he will probably go to jail.
4. Sergent Schultz is obviously his father as, “I see nothing, I know nothing, I was not their.”

If it was “appropriate” for Trump it was appropriate for the Clinton campaign given the FBI’s knowledge that a Russain spy was working for Steele. Yet there was no FISA surveillance of the Clinton campaign. What happened? GOP totally let Comey off the hook on that account.

What a pile of flaming horses**t. With what is well known and entirely documented, a second-year law student with a B average in cross examination should have been able to get Comey completely crossed up and compelled to admit massive misdeeds.

This is what the GOP always does, the classic Darrel Issa method. Unprepared, they ask shit questions, always giving the deponent a free ride out.

A: (What an actual attorney would ask) “So, knowing that this dossier was a total fabrication as you did for months and yet you proceeded to justify four FISA warrant applications on bogus information, is there any alternative to concluding that you performed and approved a deliberate fraud upon the FISA court?”

B: (Issa would ask) “Do you remember what date you found out that the dossier was possibly erroneous in its content?”

Pisses me off more than just about anything. They ask shit questions, because they just wing it.

Some of the worst scoundrels in this saga are Clinton and Bush holdovers.
