I think the reports fake, especially since Trump denied the report. And it's close to the election the fake news blooming season.

But Trump gave up his role in his companies, so he's not drawing a salary from there. He donates his salary from being president. What income does he have?

His income would be mostly passive. If he's not selling assets, or reaping dividends from investments, then yeah, his income for 2016, 17, 18, and 19 might be really low, thus a low tax bill.
