I have read that the Kavanagh fiasco cost the Dems several seats in the Senate. Feinstein was the architect of that with the last minute accusations that Feinstein withheld. If Feinstein repeats such a poor showing, perhaps the Dems could lose a couple more Senate seats in November.
Simply delaying the confirmation has value. Trump could lose. Trump could die. World War III could breakout. For the Democrats these are very desperate times.
