It has already been explained why they couldn't meet - read the article. In the Senate, the minority has a lot of input and they follow the rules.

It really isn't a big deal. The Senate usually goes in session at 12 noon, so they can schedule the hearings from 9 am to 2 pm on the days they have the hearings to get around the rule,

So we change the rules. Same as they'd do in the same situation. No power on earth is going to stop this SCOTUS confirmation, let alone crying Schumer.

That’s why McConnell must put an end to this nightmare that is forming...Before it even begins. Call for the floor vote and be done with these wicked leftists. There is NO compromising with them. And we KNOW this by now. DAMNIT..NIP THIS. IN THE BUD.

He won’t of course

and the Rats will out flank and maneuver the Reps like usual

I predict no confirmation...

the Rats and Media(with leaks) will go full nuclear to stop it

Can hearings be “unofficial” business?

I would think that a committee vote to send the nomination to the floor would have to be “official” business, but couldn’t the nominee just sit and chat with the committee members after 2 p.m.?

It's not in the constitution. They are merely Senate rules for which the Dems have ZERO respect, apart from when they abuse it for nefarious purposes

sure you can. You just ask for a ruling from the parliamentarian (who represents the majority) lol and you over rule, or change whatever you wish.

It’s called playing hard ball.

The majority can actually do whatever it wants including removing ALL democrats from ALL committees completely.

All rules in the Senate are based on tradition not law, just like the filibuster.

Time for hard ball.

I hope so

but will many of the RINOS still vote yes in a Lame Duck session if it gets delayed until after the election?

look for these type of media reports the week it tries to clear the committee..

1) New York Times is reporting candidate X may have cheated on their taxes blah blah blah

2) CNN has obtained tapes of candidate X using racial and gay slurs blah blah blah

3)Wash Post reporting that (enter slander story here)

Let him do it again. When he does, bring up the vote on SCOTUS. When he complains, say he won’t let it go to committee.

It’s not a big deal. Committee hearings often start at 9 am and it can last until 2 pm. McConnell has already stated the hearings will last 3 days.
