I saw Vandalia and was momentarily shocked, until I saw Ohio.

We have a Vandalia here in Illinois too.

Vandalia Illinois is the termination of th National Road, the first federal highway. The road began in Cumberland Maryland and ended in Vandalia, Illinois.

It sparked controversy because there is no provision in the constitution for federal highways.

It served as the state capital of Illinois from 1819 until 1839, when the seat of state government moved to the current capital of Springfield.
