Report: Iran considering plot to assassinate US ambassador to South Africa
Fox News ^ | September 13 2020 | Andrew O'Reilly

Iran is allegedly mulling over an attempt to assassinate the United States’ ambassador to South Africa as retaliation for the American drone attack earlier this year that killed Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' elite Quds Force.

The news of Tehran’s purported plans was first reported by Politico, who spoke with one official familiar with the issue and another official who has seen the intelligence.

If Iran does attempt to carry out the assassination, it would severely ratchet up the already tense relations between Washington and Tehran, along with giving the Trump administration impetus to retaliate.

Fly over their parliament building in Tehran once a week, and drop a MOAB down their smokestack. Rinse and repeat until they get the hint or the earth’s crust cracks. Hey, I’m helping to pay for all that hardware, I wanna see what it can do.

So trustworthy Politico, with yet ANOTHER anonymous intel community source, wants Trump to attack Iran. This is pure high school “Hey, lets you and him have a fight!”.

Sounds like Bolton is on staff at politico.

I have an anonymous source in the intel community who says that Irans leadership is secretly happy Solimani got blasted. They secretly worried he was getting to much power and was a threat to them, but they had no convenient way to get rid of him.

But I can’t reveal my sources of course.

Not buying this yet. Same story has been in UK and Europe.

So Fox is now parroting Politico stories? Fox is going to the abyss.

If I was Ambassador Marks, I’d worry more that I had been deemed expendable by the Deep State in order to blame Iran. Because she is a friend of Trump, the DS would hope her demise would start a war.

She would hardly be a quid pro quo for General Soleimani. How many Americans even knows who she is?

This sounds like a story that a drunk Pakistani diamond-merchant would make at a four-star hotel in Cape Town. So I’m disbelieving this for the most part.

I don’t believe this is presently a serious consideration, because the move is being broadcasted in such obvious terms. Most developed countries don’t operate that way. North Korea I could see blowing every trumpet just to grab the world’s attention. But Kim-Country is purposefully not developed.

If they would or could do it they would do it. Not leak it to the press.

Looks like this story is true. Next question is are the Russians involved.

I don’t see why the Russians would need to jump into this ‘gimmick’.

You just need some Iranian money-bag guy to show up and talk business with some drug-gang in Johannesburg and they’d contract out some ‘action’.

If any of this were true...they wouldn’t engage on the embassy. They’d just wait this out and plan on some party or event where the ambassador would show up.

In the old days, there used to be a lot of Israeli involvement in SA, and they’d filter out this type of intelligence, and know ahead of time. I doubt if that still exists today.
