Salon Owner Shelley Luther Announces Run For Texas Senate Seat
NBC DFW ^ | August 22, 2020 | Catherine Marfin

NBC 5 Dallas salon owner Shelley Luther, who made national headlines by reopening her shop during the pandemic in defiance of business closure orders by Gov. Greg Abbott, announced Saturday that she is running for Texas Senate District 30.

Luther’s announcement comes after Republican activists elected Pat Fallon to replace Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe as the GOP nominee for Texas’ congressional District 4.

If Fallon wins, as is widely expected, he would be ineligible to be a state senator once sworn into Congress, creating an opening for the seat in Austin.

Isn’t there an assembly seat she can go for? Start smaller. At least she’s not going for the big house claiming victimhood made her qualified. Think Kristine Kraft and Sandra Fluke.

At our state level, we have state senators and state representatives.

“Assembly seat” sounds so back east to me...

we already have a bunch of rinos in both our state houses.

A state senate seat is not that big of a step up from a state assembly seat.

I would almost bet this was the plan all along.

She had the backing of a few insiders *cough*Huffhines*cough* who were not happy with the Governor and knew they could push him by using her. Honestly, I’m glad they did it.

But, just because she has the backing of a few who wish to push the governor’s buttons doesn’t mean she is the right person for a seat in the state senate. If anything, I would question who she would be beholden to based on her past actions.

I applaud her for what she did, even if it was a stunt, but do a bit of digging on her. She’s not all that she appears. I can’t say any more than that.

I’d vote for her. Unfortunately, I live about thirty miles too far north.

Like Sonny Bono got in to politics so he could fire the license bureaucrazy who kept dragging his feet on a license for Bono’s Palm Springs restaurant.?

Sonny Bono : apparently joked :: But I’m not totally heartless. He’s my gardener, now.
