Will Gov. Andrew Cuomo allow anything resembling an outside review of New York’s coronavirus nursing-home horrors? The test case is a bipartisan bill from state Sen. Jim Tedisco and Assemblyman Ron Kim.
At the height of the pandemic, the state’s March 25 mandate put infected patients among the elderly — who Cuomo has acknowledged are the most vulnerable to the virus. The gov insists any criticism of that order is pure politics.
The bill calls for an independent investigation to, as sponsors put it, “fully examine policies that led to the deaths of thousands of New Yorkers in nursing-home facilities” during the pandemic.
Team Cuomo has stonewalled all efforts to get answers, and lawmakers are furious.

That the gov pulled the mandate in May suggests he knows it was a deadly error. The virus killed at least 6,400 nursing-home residents — and the real number, the one Zucker refuses to reveal, could be twice that.
The people of New York deserve answers. If Cuomo and his allies don’t even allow this commission to look for them, it’s compelling proof of guilt.

He’s basically pleading the Fifth. Which doesn’t always mean you know you’re guilty, but usually means you know you’re guilty.
No excuse for putting them in nursing homes when there was a big old medical ship and temporary hospitals built to handle the cases
They sat empty, all because Cuomo didn’t want to be seen taking help from Trump or private charity

Cuomo also allowed positive employees to continue working at their facilities until almost mid-May when he changed the policy.

I also wonder how many NYers have died because Cuomo will not allow our physicians to prescribe hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). It is only allowed in a hospital setting, last I heard, which might be too late. HCQ is most effective when it is taken early.
How can the Governor stop an outside review of Nursing homes if the reviewers have a Federal charter or other FED authorization to make such reviews; can he stop medicare reviewers from going in?
Does he use the State Police to block the entrances to the Nursing homes in question?
I think a certain governor is feeling a noose around his neck!
It isn’t just the Governor. They’ll be looking at the folks who obeyed such possibly illegal orders and dictates!
Allow? FBI should take a look.
